Looking forward to seeing it myself.   Hoping to buy it just as soon as it is available for my VCR.......
Will the sound track be offered on 8 track?

I loved it !! (Saw it at 1PM showing on B&B Big screen (not an IMAX, but bigger than standard screens))

Of course it is a MOVIE, not a documentary, but I have my list of nits to pick - starting with Tom Cruise riding his Zx900 Ninja in flight jacket and NO OTHER SAFETY GEAR (big  no-no even in MY days in the Navy) on base / in California, also riding in the taxiway.

Well - not ALL goes well. He does get all the attack team back to the boat, patches things up with Goose's son, gets the girl (Penny Benjamin), and is finally grounded / forced to retire.

Hmm, well no need to go see the movie now.

Hence the call sign "Maverick".

Pretty good movie.
Liked the first one better plot wise.

This one had more of a Mission Impossible vibe to it and really went out there in some things.

Lots of good cinematography.

The good guys all get home and all is well.

If you ignore the the act of war part of attacking another country's nuclear facility which is part of the Mission Impossible vibe.

A very good movie.

1st time back in the theatre for me in about 3 years; it was good to be back.  I’ve always enjoyed movies, escapism I guess.  Politics aside, a creative screen play, music, and great cinematography make the trip a worthwhile experience.

Perhaps the only criticism or a minor truism not correct: the idea an Air Force Captain can afford a P51 these days.  A career military pilot basically gives up the thought of a wealthy life.  In exchange, they sit on the edge of existence at the tip of the spear. Adrenaline.

A great recruitment tool, and I’m thankful for that.

Excuse - Maverick is a NAVY Captain for this movie - think Air Force / Army / Marine COLONEL (O-6) . Now, an O-6 might still struggle a bit buying a P-51, but MAV was a lifelong bachelor.

The people he was training were NAVY LT, same paygrade as other services Captains ( O-3).

Navy, correct.  I forgot that.  And life long bachelor too.  Still not nearly enough to buy/ fly a Mustang.  Only the super wealthy can afford that machine these days, think mega millionaires like Tom Cruise but definitely not Maverick.

And I LOVE P51’s, jest jealous.  And I had an hour ride in one a few years back; nothing but admiration for the young men that flew them in to combat.

good to know the 2nd sequel movie is just as good, if not better, than the original. That is rarely the case.

Military pay is not that bad depending on ranking, of course.  My neighbors kid age 40ish and his wife about same age are lifelong military and both lt. colonels.  Besides being shipped 5-6x's wherever the military sees fit for them to reside (all paid for by the way), they are set for life and so are their 3 kids.  Am sure, if they wanted to, could afford a plane to purchase no problems.  They drive a 80K SUV, free place pd. for by military to live (big house), all 3 kids college education already pd for only age 12 or so, own hunting land in Kansas, and am sure both make 120K easily each per year.    I guess they both recently got sent to Washington DC to work at the Pentagon.  Oh yah,  both are set to retire am sure well before age 50.

P.S. I want to be Tom Cruise's friend!

I'm with you Connie, If I had a friend with those resources, I wouldn't be hanging out with you VRCC clowns.  (well actually I would, 'cause I like you guys, but only when I wasn't playing TOPGUN with Tom Cruise)

My son Eric got to work with Mr Cruise a couple of times.  One was on the Jack Reicher II movie filmed in NOLA.  Mr. Cruise does his own stunts including driving.  Eric is in the scene where Tom drives through a crowd by Jackson square.  He said Cruise is an excellent driver and hits his marks EVERY TIME.  Something many professional stunt drivers can't do.  But I guess when you spend your leisure time racing cars and flying planes you tend to get pretty good at it.  Mr. Cruise seems like a fun guy to hang out with.  If he still has his RUNE we should send him an invitation to come hang with us in Billings.

Prior it being put off limits, I lead a flight of Scouts and Cobras up the Grand Canyon.   Nine of us flying low, hauling ass and loving what we did all the while scaring the hell out of a bunch of tourist and probably all the wildlife in the canyon.  Evil   Yeah, there's a reason they don't let us do that kind of thing any more.

I'm think'n all the hype had me expecting more than was delivered.

Was a good movie but, not as good as I was hoping for.

The wife and I went to see it last weekend, postponed posting any info so not to spoil anyone’s experience.

We both thought the flight cinematography was excellent.
Plot kinda of predictable and acting was pretty good.

Over all I’d give it 7/10 rating.

BTW, my brother saw it in IMAX and said that was incredible.

Film Review: ‘Top Gun: Maverick’: Best Action Sequel of All Time

https://www.theepochtimes.com/film-review-top-gun-maverick-best-action-sequel-of-all-time_4460320.html?utm_source=Morningbrief&utm_campaign=mb-2022-06-06&utm_medium=email&est=ojpx3kBQNtdlSbu3n6bMqn8PHKbHb6qeXqcjj9J4w62xsGiJeN4D%2FgNEzjk%3D

Finally. In “Top Gun: Maverick” we have an old-school, 1970s/’80s/’90s-quality summer blockbuster, like they used to make ’em, that’s also very possibly the best action movie sequel of all time. In fact, it’s safe to say that the sequel outshines the original. Fans have waited 36 years for this, and thanks to movie star and producer extraordinaire, Mr. Tom Cruise (and original producer Jerry Bruckheimer), “Top Gun: Maverick” exceeds all expectations. It’s been a long time since I exited a movie theater wanting to immediately go back in for the next available screening.
