Good afternoon folks, I've recently discovered a new sound coming from my 97 std Valkyrie. If any of you guys can give me an idea of where to check or had this sound in the past, please give me a heads up. It is most prominent in start-ups, whenever the bike is leaned on the kickstand is when it sounds the loudest, and it gets tuned out when the bike is held in the straight position. I've determined the sound may be coming from around the alternator area. It doesn't make the sound when riding, or even if it did at red lights, I can't hear it. I've included a short clip of the sound in the link below, you can listen to it around the 6-second mark. It sounds almost like a wind chime to me, I'm assuming something maybe be loose.

Do you have Kuryakyn transmission covers on the bike?

Check those.

Next, alternator damper rubbers.

Or a Gremlin bell hanging under there?

Yes, those are Kuryakyn covers. I checked both the covers and the rubbers on the alternator. Upon further inspection, I believe something is loose in the left side cylinder head cam by #6

Do a valve adjustment. Not hard, get a service manual.
