I took the 3rd ride to Cody then Chief Joseph into Beartooth ending in Red Lodge for the night

That was one terrific day of riding for sure.  Too bad my front brake was locked up going over the Big Horns,  Honda in Sheridan? unfroze it but had to do the whole ride without front brake as they were out  Once in Cody, Bear in the House and I (well mostly him) replaced the front brakes and got them unfrozen

by the time I got back to NY I needed rotors

He rode to Billings and back for brakes for me.   Unfortunately he had a bad accident a few years ago and no longer rides.  But at least he is still alive and well.

What I am really looking forward to is Lolo Pass (12) into 13 into 14 to Elk City Idaho  population 202
Then riding 26 to Seattle and 2 east from there

I can't say I've ever heard a loud Wing.

I mean maybe an old bobbed 1000, 1100, 1200 early one with pipes, but that's it.

Beartooth Highway closure update 6/2/22 - The last storm event over the weekend ended with 4-6 feet of snow on the roadway. Our crew has backed off snow removal for the time being due to dangerous avalanche conditions. They will resume when it is safe to do so. Reopening date is unknown at this time - please check the MDT 511 map/app for most current updates and information: 511mt.net.

Regarding Beartooth Pass, I know 99.9% of you know this, but, on my first trip on the pass on 2009 on my ST1300, we crossed what I would call a cattle grate entering the pass from the south.

The temperatures, indicated on the ST readout, was 34 degrees.

As I crossed the grate, not in a straight line but on a slight curve to sort of match the road, I felt the bike slide a little.  I believe the grate was still a little icy.

Just an FYI if you take the ride with temps close to freezing.

A suggestion would be to ride over to Laurel and catch 212 to 310 to 72 which will turn into Wyoming 120. Take that south to Wyoming 296 (Chief Joe Scenic byway.) Chief Joe is on my all time favorite list. When you get to 212 again, turn left to get to Cooke City and points west to Yellowstone's northeast entrance.  If you continue toward Mammoth Hot springs, beware the bison. Thru the Hayden Valley, there is wildlife by the roadside grazing by the hundreds and also one of the best trout fisheries in the world. At Mammoth turn right and head to Gardiner and  on north to Livingston where you'll pick up I-90 again and back to Billings. That would be a full day's trip and a tiring one at that, but all I can say would be WOW!

Another FB post.    "Yesterday I insisted on going over the pass
one more time. After a couple attempts only
2-5 miles from the top. Heavy Snow, fog, wind,
cold. We could not go over. Ended up stuck at
The Top of The World with the new owners.
After several hours they fed us, built us a fire and treated us like Kings. Drove us to our room in Red Lodge while major flooding in progress. Today the pass closed again due to
road washing out and Landslides. We are in Red Lodge and our motorcycles are on the
Top of the World.........

Statement from superintendent Cam Sholly about flooding in Yellowstone National Park:
“Due to record flooding events in the park and more precipitation in the forecast, we have made the decision to close Yellowstone to all inbound visitation," said superintendent Cam Sholly. "Our first priority has been to evacuate the northern section of the park where we have multiple road and bridge failures, mudslides and other issues. The community of Gardiner is currently isolated, and we are working with the county and State of Montana to provide necessary support to residents, who are currently without water and power in some areas. Due to predictions of higher flood levels in areas of the park’s southern loop, in addition to concerns with water and wastewater systems, we will begin to move visitors in the southern loop out of the park later today in coordination with our in-park business partners. We will not know timing of the park’s reopening until flood waters subside and we're able to assess the damage throughout the park. It is likely that the northern loop will be closed for a substantial amount of time. I appreciate the efforts of the Yellowstone team and partners to safely evacuate areas of the park and of our gateway community partners who are helping us through this major event. We appreciate the support offered by the Department of Interior, National Park Service and the Montana and Wyoming governors."
We will continue to communicate about this hazardous situation as more information is available. More info: go.nps.gov/220613
