Noticed it coming back from my daughter's place Monday evening. Bike is running good but this is the last thing I need, especially looking at a minimum of 3 days each way headed to IZ plus any rides while there and following the rally.

It turns on, just won't engage/set. Since it has power it obviously has a good fuse so I checked the brake relay operation. If it's stuck open that would keep it from engaging but that works fine with both the hand and foot brake. Next I'll be checking the vacuum lines for problems/cracks. Also, I was in the battery box a couple weeks back, having to move stuff around to get at something. Replacing the lid is always a pain so it's possible I may have created my own problem(s). It's just a last minute PITA...something I don't need right now.  Angry

I know you want it fixed, but if that doesn't happen (right away), a decent cheap throttle lock can give you needed hand relief doing distance (with some occasional adjustments for elevations).

The main trick with throttle locks is adjusting them for tightness.  You always want to be able to overcome it easily with your hand while locked on, but too lose and they back off over time and bumps.

I'd seriously look for a used Brake-Away.

Ran a number of throttle locks over the years. This version is head and shoulders above the rest.

Yes the Break Away is nice, but you'll get your cruise working sometime.

I would not spend for or do the install on a Break Away with cruise.  A quick, easy and cheap slip on throttle lock will work if you need it for the pilgrimage to Billings.

I must be living right, got it working. Appears to have been a loose ground for the brake relay that's needed when you have LEDs in the circuit. And...I probably did it myself when I R&R the battery cover a couple weeks ago.  cooldude

I've had a break-away before, nice piece but is no more than an expensive throttle lock. Still better than the el-cheapo variety.
