Hey all, New to the forums and just got my first Valkyrie, a 98 tourer.  I have a question about a mystery switch that I can't seen to find the purpose of.  It is located on the right side bar that holds the blinker and high beam headlight.  Anyone know the purpose of this switch?  Thanks!

No, not the choke.  I'm talking about on the right hand side, and it isn't on the handlebars, it is on the top of the bar that holds the blinker, below and to the right of the tach and speedo.  It's just a little black 2 position switch.  I'll take a picture of it later when I'm leaving work if that will help.

It’s an added switch by the previous owner. He may have removed whatever it controlled. Follow the wire to it’s end to be sure.

stock front signals look like this. It sounds like you have a lightbar?

Sounds like it’s the switch to a Cobra lightbar to me. If so turn the key on and flip the switch. The 2 “headlights” on either side of the center headlight should go out. If they don’t go out, I’ll bet the switch is bad and the previous owner did a bypass by jumpering the wire on the underside of the lightbar below the switch location. That’s what I had to do, was going to look for a replacement switch someday.

Autozone has those switches. They have both lighted and unlighted.

it sounds like the cobra light bar switch to activate the two auxiliary lights on the left and right side of the main light.

You have a Cobra light bar.
That black switch is the on/off switch for the driving lights mounted on top of the light bar.

Thanks all.  The previous owner didn't know what it was for, and someone before him must have rewired the lights to bypass the switch because they come on only when the high beam is on, regardless of the switch position.

One of my bikes came with a quarter mile of wiring to .... things that were no longer on the bike.

The first one you find, you wonder..... what the heck does this go to and is it important?

I think it's all gone now, but who can know?

I did run a wire up under the tank (when off once) in case I ever wanted something up there, so that one's OK.
