Ok, this is not what you’re thinking. Not talking about racing. I finally got a look at the rear wheel final drive set up for the VTX. There’s a couple things I like about it over the Valkyrie. First and I knew this already, the VTX has bearings in the flange so it rides on the axle do it’s impossible to wobble if the dampeners gets worn. The other thing I like is the flange is basically bolted onto the wheel so it can’t stay with the drive like a Valkyrie flange.

I was hoping the VTX  flange would be the same teeth as our Valkyrie but sadly the teeth on the VTX drive are a little closer together. I wanted to buy a flange with the bearings in it for my Valkyrie.  So plan B. I’m going to buy the bearings and try to get them pressed into my flange. If I can make it work I think it would be a serious upgrade.

I’m also curious as to the dimensions of both wheels. Im wondering if a VTX wheel could fit a Valkyrie. It the width is right I’m pretty sure our flange can be attached to the VTX wheel.

From my side of the screen, the bearings in the flange (VTX style) would create interference with the o-ring holder and the collar in the pumpkin as they can't occupy the same space. Perhaps you won't need the o-ring holder and redundant since the pressed in bearings would provide the seal for the inner barrel of the 5-star flange, but the collar I think would have to be cut down in length.

The fiche list the tires as the same, so I guess the wheels too. I didn't check every single year.

You’re right RonW. The spacer in the drive would be a show stopper

It still can be done but it would need some precise engineering to cut back the spacer in the final drive and insure a solid connection bearing to bearing with the wheel bearing. I’m still going to ponder it. If it can be accomplished it would be worth it

I had both in the garage for a while.

The VTX1800C went away and the Valks stayed, but I enjoyed all of them.

Chris, you might want to pop over to the VTXOA site and see what some of the fabricators are up to. I know in the early days of that machine, there was much parts swappage going on with it and our F6-1500s.

I’ve been thinking about this for sometime now after watching my buddy build bikes I know anything can be done if you had the right tools and equipment like a lathe and milling machine, I’m sure someone with alittle money could have this done, I wish I could get a set of VTX wheels
