I don't have any new breaker boxes (well maybe five years old) but thanks for the update.

Good to know we have a place to exchange relevant safety data.

Yes, it is good to know.   Hopefully I missed some important information but it says Square D will replace free but needs to be done by a qualified electrician.   I agree but who's paying for that electrician?   If they are, how and who does one submit the bill to?

I’m no electrician but what does the box have to do with fire? Wouldn’t it be the breakers that were used or is it the buss bar, which I’m assuming it factory installed.

Having done a recent renovation where a Square D breaker box was installed, I contacted my General Contractor.   He told me this has something to do with a "loose screw" installed at the factory that can contact another wire.   I assume that other wire is a "hot wire" causing it to ground out and heat up.

Regardless, based on what I've learned, this Recall only applies to certain model breaker boxes of which, mine is not included.   The confusing part for me is/was, Square D says repair/replacement would be free and are contacting their sellers (residentials and commercial retailers) about this.   Well, those retailers have no idea that I have a Square D breaker box.   My General Contractor had a Sub-Contractor (who is now retired if, he's still alive) and probably has no idea or record of who or where he installed those breaker boxes.  So, I went to the site and compared my own breaker box with the model numbers listed.   Felt like I needed to verify that for my wife's and my own safety.
