but if you try sometimes....u get what u need

Took the BRP from Hendersonville north

Somewhere after the CRAGGY tunnel the fog soup rolled in.  Pulled into a pullout where I saw a bike with flashers on and found his radar showed what I thought   Thick soup to after Mt Mitchell   In fact visibility was about 20 feet if that.    Doggone it  so we both headed back south with our flashers on till south of that tunnel.  He showed me this road called Town Line Road  That was pretty awesome and it wound and wound to  downtown Asheville then I took future 26 to 26 to Johnson City and then north on 81
The gusts are around 30ish which is half of what some of you went thru in Billings
Radar says 38mph gusts in PA so glad I stopped now
Bless your hearts
By the time I hit Roanoke at 3, a few minutes ago I was beat so called 3 fan and we will hang out this evening   I am at the Hampton Inn just north of Roanoke
The wind should be a steady 12 before gusts tomorrow morning across PA. so will leave before breakfast is served
Should have realized that you need big wind to chase a heat wave   BUT I am in no rush  If it takes me 2 days to get home so be it  And I will drive to Ocean City if I go at all

I was up running the Rattler this morning. In the afternoon I did a loop of 276, Parkway, 215 back to Maggie Valley. Beautiful blue skies all day. Years ago I was up on the parkway and couldn’t see the back end of a GL1500 and he couldn’t see my head light on my Magna. Some how we both found the same turn out.

Some years ago, a buddy and I rode home together on the Parkway, and got major rain, dark, mud and fog.  On a two lane road, we got separated and never found each other again.    Grin

I seem to recall following you Jess, down the BRP very closely as it was foggy (but not like today) and pouring rain on our way to an IZ.  Was that one of the Asheville ones? Maybe 2014?

The others showed up well after we got to the destination

Not because I am a great rider, which obviously I am not, but because I was less than 100 ft behind you the whole way    That was one wet ride for the ages.

Yes, that was Ashville.  Don't remember the year.  Instead of the whole way on the Parkway (from Staunton VA), because of weather, we did half on freeway, and the lower half on the Parkway.  It was dodgy fog, but not anywhere near as bad as it can get.  Rained all the way home from that one too.

That's where I learned my rain riding technique.

Instead of sitting normal, I put my left elbow on my tank bib, lean in and rest my chin on my fist, and just look over the fouled shield.  When the prescription glasses get fouled I flex up just enough to blow them off with the wind, then resume the position.  Half helmet.

On the Interstate Valk, without the fairing vent plugged with foam, the water not only fouls the shield outside, it travels up the inside too.

With rain riding, I don't mind the wet, but I hate the blind.

BRP is not the place to be in low cloud.

couldn’t see the back end of a GL1500 and he couldn’t see my head light on my Magna.

I was trying to follow a string of Valkyries on a short ride through the BRP
from GZ at one of the meet-in-the-middle rides. I could see the taillight
in front of me. I had to get rid of my sunglasses and just that second or
two while I took them off caused me to drop behind the rider I was following
to where I couldn't see anything but the fog after that...
