Hey Folks,

I just installed the Baker AirWings on my 99 Standard. I also have the Memphis Shades fork deflectors. Will the fork deflectors affect the functionality (positive or negative) of the Bakers? The weather has kept me from road testing but I sure look forward to it!

Thanks  in advance.

I think they work together... in the winter the Bakers really cancel out the blast on your legs,
and the deflectors cancel a blast that shoots up from the front of the tank to your face...

I have both.  Great for cold weather!

I have different fork deflectors, which I installed after running with the Airwings for a year. The addition of the fork deflectors greatly reduced buffeting, and the blast of air up my nose. I think you'll like the difference.

Man, I really wish there was another way of preventing that "blast of air up your nose" other than the fork deflectors. No offense to anyone, but I just don't like the looks of them. I have the bakers on my '99 standard, but would still like to prevent the air from coming up around the tank.

Considered the batwing, but the wife unit doesn't really like the look of those. (Whose bike is it, anyway, dear?!)  uglystupid2

Actually the batwing makes it worse. I think the oem shield provided better wind protection. I never had alot of wind and it was very comfortable. With the b'wing I take alot onto the chest. Comes under the wing and right up over the tank. My HD friends say this is common with theirs, most put the fairing wings on. Worse when it rains. Cant do it with mine since I have no inner fairing. The fork deflectors have helped with the chest wind. I'll see how they are in the summer. I may just use them for cold weather or when we travel. They come off with 2 small bolts. Debating about Bakers.  Undecided

A few years ago, I installed the Bakers on my IS. Had exactly the same phenomenon: huge blast of air in the chest coming over the fuel tank. It seemed like I had drilled a huge hole in my windshield. Installed a set of fork deflectors: problem gone and great air flow control.
