Howdy folks! New Valkyrie owner here. I've been restoring Honda V65 Magnas for almost 15 years now and I recently picked up my first Valkyrie (2001 Interstate model). They are very different bikes but definitely designed in the same spirit. I've been doing a lot of reading and I'm slowly realizing that mine came with a lot of desirable mods. Cobra pipes, single and double Corbin saddles, lots of chrome extras, etc. This is hands down the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. Thanks in advance for all of the helpful info I've found so far and I'm sure I'll be posting questions as the miles on the Valkyrie add up!

Welcome, as you can guess most of us are here because we love the bike, one of a kind.

Welcome. Grin
Nice Valk.  I too have just jumped on the wagon.  Got my 98 Tourer last Jan.  Hands down the best ride I have ever had.  I've owned a few Hondas, my old CB750 was a favorite.  Had a GS850 Suzuki and a Kawa Vulcan.  This Valk is the best running best riding I've had.  Thanks to the fellow riders on this board.  I've picked up tons of good useful info.  Right now, I have her tore down replacing the tires, fork seals, springs, brake pads, cobra pipes and installing a Dan Marc solenoid.  Been a aircraft mechanic for decades but was nervous about taking the bike apart however the board here is full of great advice.  Enjoy and ride safe.

Welcome from NW Florida. Everyone know my pet peeve. The rear drive. I recommend a rear end service right away when getting a pre owned Valkyrie. It’s a process. Search and read there are a ton of posts

I don't own other cruisers/touring type bikes because there is no better choice than the Valkyrie - and I've had saddle time on practically everything built in the last 30 years.

You'll enjoy yours.

Welcome.
I've decided to have my forks refurbished and was standing at the counter at my local dealers when a 60 Yr old (ish) leather clad Harley (he told me) rider approached me.
He asked if I was the Valkyrie owner.
" It hasn't fallen over has it?", says I.
"No", was his reply
He went on to say it was the best bike he'd ever had and had owned one for 17 yrs. He moved on to Harleys and said it was the biggest mistake he'd made. He wished he still had the big Honda.
Enjoy your Valk.
This is a really helpful forum.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a new guy too, and doing the resto on a 1998 Valkyrie. I'm doing it all on video at Youtube. Maybe there is something there that will help you out. I'm just finishing the test rides and organizing my shop area. I'm about to start the tear down. Here is a link to my Valkyrie video series. Please feel free to comment. This is my 1st motorcycle restoration and I would value your input and expertise! You bike looks wonderful. Welcome aboard.  The Craig Miller Channel is here... The Valkyrie specific videos are all on the Valkyrie restoration play list.

Congratulations on the Valkyrie your going to love it, I’m a retired Harley-Davidson mechanic and the first time I rode one I was hooked I now have an interstate for when my wife wants to go somewhere and a tour model for me just to ride around, if I had the money I would buy some more it’s a very addictive bike

Not only the rear service, very costly if it hasn't been done right, but also read/know about hydro lock hot to know when you have one and what not and to do, and how to use the chock (fuel enrichment lever) when starting.

All good reading for a new Valkyrie owner.

As for your IS, if you don't have the owners manual, I've got a scan of the pages for the radio. Email me direct, and I'll forward them to anyone who want them.

Ride safe.
