Christ first and always

Richmond, Kentucky

« on: July 09, 2022, 07:01:50 AM »

It finally rained! We had missed a lot of opportunities over the past few weeks. We had clouds and wind and thunder and lightening but little to no precipitation. Crops were in desperate need and I’m not sure we got enough yet (I’m sure we haven’t) but it was a start. I understand Kansas and other plains states who produce grain are in trouble too.

I was getting ready to jump on the bike to go to Lowes yesterday and when I raised the garage door and noticed the trees really moving around. So I walk around the corner of the house and look to the west and immediately know I need to switch to the truck. I could actually see the rain coming off in the distance. I may plan another bike ride today!

More rain this afternoon of the slow steady type. I’ll be breaking out the zero turn in a few days for sure. Giving us a break in the heat too, just 69 outside right now.

Very little rain here in NE Ohio since early/mid May. Just told the Mrs. we need a nice 1/2 day soaker. We have been missed to the north and south buy a few severe storms that came through here over the last month.

We could really use some here in Edmond.  Had a large thunderstorm complex sit right over downtown OKC for an hour but all we got here was a few sprinkles.  Haven't had measurable rain in over a month and even then, the last measurable rain was a tenth of an inch.

Our portion of OR is about 0.3 inches over normal for the month, thanks to rain over the 4th weekend.  Considering that we are in a dough that is good news.   Also, when one considers that we only get 12-13" of moisture a year that's a big deal.  Had to barbeque our meat in the rain.

Going to be hot and dry for the next week.
