I would like to repeat a trip (well not exactly but....) that some friends and I took back in 2006. Basically we will head west from SC and go through southern Kentucky and then Missouri and then the Eastern part of Oklahoma. The purpose, besides a road trip is to travel the Talimena Scenic Dr and, on the way, visit Rich Mountain. We would come back home via Arkansas and Alabama.
We would do the trip in mid October. My question is what is the weather like that time of year on Ok, MO, and AR?
Looks like its in the low 70's for highs but.... that's just the web.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Oh and comments on "fall colors" would be appreciated.

We went on the Talimena Scenic Dr once. Didn't mean to, missed our turn in Mena. Knew right away once we saw the Welcome to Oklahoma sign that this wasn't the way to Fayetteville. So, we rode the Talimena Scenic Dr again, from the other direction. It is nice...both ways.

Being as my lawn is currently a rich brownish color and the central section here in Missouri is in a currently longish drought thinkin fall colors might could git sketchy. And also here in the ShoMe weather can be summed up thusly-don't like the weather now? Stick around 5 or 6 minutes it's bound to change! RIDE SAFE.

Talimena is a great road, especially for us flat landers - I can leave Dallas early in the morning, be in the mountains by late lunch, run the Talimena, and be home back in Dallas for a late dinner... It's not Tail of the Dragon, but it's a wonderful little road, and the roads going to and from it aren't half bad either. Fall colors on the Talimena peak mid/late October to early November, but varies a lot. https://visitmccurtaincounty.com/mccurtain-countys-best-fall-foliage-lives-talimena-scenic-byway/There is a hotel on the scenic parkway itself, I've always meant to stay there but usually make it a there and back trip, but if you can time it to spend the night there might be worth a look see: https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/parks/queen-wilhelmina-state-parkThe weather is highly variable, but usually not TOO bad in the October/November time frame. Be aware in the early evening and early morning, this is deer territory and they're plentiful. (My latest trip up there, with Kali, June of 2020)

Talimena is a great road, ... There is a hotel on the scenic parkway itself, I've always meant to stay there but usually make it a there and back trip, but if you can time it to spend the night there might be worth a look see: ...
The Queen Wilhelmina Lodge is not greatly impressive but it is a nice place to stay with scenic views and it's a good place to have a meal or two when traversing the Talimena.

the north western to northern central (roughly) has several superior highways 7,9,23,215,21,341-google motorcycle Arkansas-due to the numerous deer as Serk warned 9am to mid/late afternoon is pretty safe riding, focusing on the road is important as the curves can come up surprising quick when gandering

My riding Friend here Knows Arkansas way better than I do. I've been on roads following him and can not recall which ones I were riding. BUT the eye candy was fantastic! Some of those vistas went on fer ever! RIDE SAFE.

The Bikes, Blues & BBQ is happening Oct 5 - 8th in Rogers Ar. Haven't been in quite a few years but it used to be a lot of fun. It'll be a bit early for the fall foliage on the Talimena scenic drive but if your in that neck of the woods and want to add a few hours onto your trip you might give it a look. https://bikesbluesandbbq.org/

Thanks. I will put it on the list. We are sort of limited as to start date for another reason. But...one never knows and any information is always good.
