My daughter-in-law would liked to have quit her job to be a full time mom but the cost of health insurance for the kids through my sons workplace or private insurance was prohibitive. In the long run my daughter-in-law will/should have a pretty good retirement package for this area that will pay big dividends as their kids get to be college age.
Since we are the only living grandparents all the responsibilities and all of the blessings have been ours which has been a very equitable trade.
yah, if good benefits for insurance needed with decent pay not worth quitting unless spouse has just as good pay/benefits. Unfortunately, I had neither and my job was coming to an end in next few months anyways going to another state so was a good time to leave anyways. Sorta left company hanging for a few months but so did the senior higher up person who left for another job shortly before I did.
My brother on the other hand is a grandpa and just like ALWAYS, mom got admitted to ER and now in hospital yet again yesterday. I called him and he said, as ALWAYS, he not going up to see mom in ER last night since babysitting 2 grandkids. Gee, you think grandma there could handle it herself for 4-5 hours?
So, as ALWAYS, I ran up to ER 45 minutes away (same distance as my brother) and found out what is going on.
