I know there were some that were interested in a UV light for their duct work for their house. But did not want to make a unit themselves. Just received this unit that looks pretty good, although I have not tried it yet, but pretty fool proof and inexpensive. Heck you could replace the whole unit every year for the price of the bulbs if anything went wrong and its easy to install.

You need more than just a UV light. Read up on Reme Halo. It’s a bit more expensive but well worth it.

Kinda  forgot about this. I put a light in the cold air return.

To  get our water  in NY to pass inspection for the sale, I ended up installing a UV light. This state now allows no bacteria at all. How can any water  supply have no bacteria.

You need more than just a UV light. Read up on Reme Halo. It’s a bit more expensive but well worth it.

Not really, UV light destroys the dna of the bacteria so it cannot reproduce. It also oxidizes smoke odors and most other cooking odors. I would also point out that the concentration of Hydrogen peroxide needed would be alot higher and needs more quantity and concentration to be effective. Peroxide also needs to be in contact with what ever it is disinfecting, UV light just needs to be in the proper intensity and it will hit everything that passes by it.

IF what you say were true then UV light for water sterilization in pools and water supplies would need to have the technology you talk about. Clean rooms in hospitals have only UV lighting as some may have a reaction to hydrogen peroxide.

I can see the benefits of what you are talking about though. 

Odor control

Oxidizes hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, amines and aldehydes. Hydrogen peroxide may be applied directly to aqueous wastes containing these odorants, or to wet scrubbers used to remove them from airstreams. If the odors are the result of biological activity, H2O2 may instead be added as a preventative to eliminate the anoxic conditions which favor the generation of odors.

Cost is a factor. Some bulbs last a year while others last 2 and 3 years.  Anyway, this is what I have in my system.

Thanks.  I am building a file (just started with this post) of things I need to address when I replace my HVAC system (maybe next five or so years, not sure). 

I did not watch its installation (new house, I built the house) but should have.  I don't remember if I identified the location for the unit but its location is sort of away for outside access (meaning replacing big parts takes time). 

I don't know the status of the ducts, they are flexible and corrugated and I think probably have significant "stuff" in them but don't have a clue how to clean them.  Hence the need for something like the UV air purifier, particularly as we get older.
