a/k/a Stuffy. '99 I/S Valk Roadsmith Trike

De Pere, WI (Green Bay)

« on: July 25, 2022, 06:45:32 PM »

A while back I had mentioned I met a lady in church and we really hit it off. Various members have teased me about that, saying "no pictures...it didn't happen." I finally posted a picture of her and I still was getting razed about needing one showing us on the trike. Well, today it happened and with the best outcome I could imagine; she loved it. Told me the back seat was really comfortable which I was glad to hear. She wrapped her arms around me while moving and asked if it was ok, I told her it was the softest backrest I'd ever had...took a minute but finally got a little bonk on the head. It wasn't a long ride, just a few miles...but it was enough for her to love the experience and wants more. We stopped to see her son at his office about quitting time and he took a couple pics, afterward she couldn't stop talking about it and sent the picture to some of her friends. So...here's a shot of the happy couple.

Why thank you Jess, they used to be some of the fastest ones in Iowa...not exactly yesterday.  Grin

Oh...you were talking about Nancy's legs. Wink Yeah, real smooth too. The left knee was messed up some years back in a skiing accident, has become a bit disfigured in recent years and it's starting to really bother her. Bone on bone tends to do that. She's now looking into getting it replaced fairly soon so she'll be on her feet come next March when we take 2-3 weeks off for a trip to Florida. My daughter and family have booked a house for all of March, it's on the west coast of Fla. and we're sharing the cost. We'll be there for at least 2 wks., maybe longer. Multiple bedrooms keeps things private between us, unless we take the final step which makes that a moot issue.

Yes, she surprised me. We were going down the street for the first trip around a few blocks and suddenly she throws her arms around me and squeals in my ear..."I love it!" It was all uphill from there. One more fun thing for us to do together. cooldude

John,

Good on ya, my friend! Really glad to 'read' the joy you're experiencing in your posts! We just never know when things look downright dismal and there doesn't seem to be any hope, that our best days are just around the next corner... Keep on inspiring the rest of us, John, it's what you do so well!!!

Oh brother...there's that word "cute" which my lady teases me with. And, many of the ladies at church and her friends refer to us as "cute" together. I keep telling them an 84 yr. old man isn't cute, saying Nancy is cute, I'm just socially acceptable...in most circles anyway. Grin

Looking at the picture, I’m predicting a lot of rides with your feet on the highway pegs and utilizing that new backrest.

She's going to need a little gear.

Helmet, gloves, over the ankle boots/shoes, jeans, eye protection, leather bustier.  Grin

I had a bunch of nice ladies gear, but gave and sold it off long ago.

And Pappy, tell me...why are you looking at my legs?  Coming from a guy with a bumper sticker on his truck for a couple weeks that said "I'm so gay I can't even drive straight." The fact you didn't see it doesn't count.  2funny 2funny

Or could say she's robbing the grave?

(It's a joke, just attempted haha, nothing dark intended.)

Love to see ya'll found each other and are enjoying each other's company; may you two continue to get to know each and and grow as a couple, no matter what long term form that relationship ends up taking...

You're right on target, at our ages....79 & 84, we have no idea how long we have left on this blue marble. Or, how long we would have to spend together if we chose to make it permanent...which seems likely some time next year. We're enjoying our time together, which is nearly every day doing something even if only parking by a local boat dock that gives a great view of the sunset. Most of our activity is spontaneous which works great for us, we seldom plan. Here's a real kicker for all those that are much younger; no matter the age, when you meet someone of interest you still get that little feeling inside just as you did back in your 20's and beyond. And when you are heading out to go see them, you still get that exciting twinge in your gut, just like all those decades ago. Then when you do walk in and there she/he is waiting for you, often with open arms, you're feeling like you did waaay back when...a pleasant and exciting rush fills you. It happens at any age, it happened to me in my 50's when I met Rita, and now again in my mid-80's. And...it feels great. Neither of us were looking or really had any interest in a new venture...then suddenly one Sunday before the church service started I see this pleasant looking blonde walk by. She stopped to shake my hand and said "hi, I'm Nancy" to which I replied "I'm John." The rest is history and we're having a blast making it. smitten

I know...a boring Hallmark story. Just wait, some of you will be fortunate to have the same experience if you lose your mate late in life. Then you'll understand...and remember.  Wink
