Has anyone attempted to rebuild a u-joint, I have done it many times on a car, but it looks like the 'cups' are staked in and is there a u-joint kit for a car (or whatever) that is the same dimensions as the valk u-joint.

I've tried. The only replacement I could find that would fit in the stock drive shaft was not as heavy duty. It didn't last very long and left me stranded on the Highway 30 miles away from getting to IZ. Embarrassed

It's not worth the effort.

A new universal joint is less that 100 bucks!

Not grease-able except for the splines. I only lubed the splines via the top drive shaft splines and got 100K out of mine.

Figured it might be a exercise in futility, but there are a lot of creative folks on this board...Shocked)
A quick check on Bike Bandit shows a cost of $113, haven't looked at HDL yet.

I've bought some parts from these guys. U joint is $86
I have not bought any bike parts from them yet, just snowmobile parts, but the bike parts look just as reasonable.

I picked one up from pinwall cycles for about $30. Is almost brand new, it was a replacement on the bike it came from. How do I know that, well it seams that all the ones installed from the factory are painted black whereas the parts bin ones are not painted.

There was no difference between the one I took out and the newly installed one.

I can't see Honda painting the u-joint. That would be a non-productive expense.

Maybe the previous owner painted it!

No problem.
I ordered some sled parts from them. Very good price and the parts arrived a few days sooner than I expected.
