Short story made long… here goes

Some of you may remember I found out I have a form of leukemia a few years ago. For a couple years it was just a watch and see kind of thing. I was normal as anything (well as far as the important blood numbers)

Them WHAM!  A few months before the Roanoke InZANE everything crashed. Platelets went almost to zero. 5k all of a sudden. I learned that is life threatening. So it seemed like all of a sudden the cancer was out of remission and I couldn’t keep a platelet in my blood stream without infusions of donor platelets.

So in an effort to maintain some hope in the future I gave my oncologist the date we had to leave for Roanoke because I was going no matter what and told her she had until then to get me squared away. Well the time came and I wasn’t squared away. But, she gave more platelet infusions and cleared me to go.

Those that remember I was hanging in there but questionable. I just had to be around the ones that gave me so much support and it truly helped. Shortly after returning from VA I went into remission.

Even though I was in remission my platelets remained dangerously low. So I researched and found some natural extracts that might help. Lots of prayer and many people’s support the platelet number finally went just above 50 which is considered minimal safe. It stayed between 50 and 75 for a year or a little more and my dr. was amazed she said she never expected it to hit 50

Well last week I had my six month appointment. Prior labs and I report in right on time and the tech immediately takes me back for more labs. This is what happened when I had the initial crash so I was mildly alarmed. Turns out this time the platelets were so high my dr didn’t believe it. Re verified and confirmed platelets at 113. ALL blood numbers  perfect and if the platelets get to 120 that will be considered normal range as well.

So definitely still in remission and whether I like it or not I’m becoming more and more normal. Not on any medicine and don’t have to see the dr again until February next year.

Ok back to whatever you were doing. I just had to share

Chris, so glad to hear the results. Prayer changes things indeed, I've seen it happen many times in my life and more than once in my own life as well. cooldude

I've never been "normal", let me know what is like when you get there!

Seriously, congrats!  Sounds like you're doing something right, keep it up!   cooldude

I can't say it any better than what everyone else has already said.   Really happy for you and glad you're going to be with us for a much longer time.    I have no idea what "normal" is, folks often say I'm getting closer to it, whatever that means.   Wink
