It's 22mm where the petcock attaches if I recall correctly. Has anyone found a female attachment of that size with the barbed nipple on it? I'd like to do away with the petcock completely and just started looking, but if someone has already ventured in that direction it would save me some time. I have the electric shut off already, plus a fuel gauge to go with the I/S tank, and since old habits are hard to break....I still reset the odometer with each fillup. If I can find something that serves the purpose, I'll install a quick disconnect just below it and in line with my external filter. I'm just in the "thinking" stage for now, but would like to have it done for summer.

Any suggestions?

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I thought about the same thing before. You could add a valve of your choice then to turn it off. Then I got to thinking, wheres my resv? I'd rather have my resv, lord knows I have need it and some. Now I have a Pingel and life is grand!  crazy2

Try this, I emailed and they said it comes in 22 mm. It's the low profile barbed fitting # 76-6312-B part way down the page. This is the one I'm getting for my Petcock free setup.

Thanks Larry, that's what I'm looking for. Great minds wander in the same circles, huh?  Grin I'll have to see how that internal screen compares to the OEM filter, I might be able to do away with my external filter if this one is fine enough. Sure would make more room for the quick disconnect. Thanks again, I kept their site in my favorites listing for "fuel systems."

The screen that's on the fitting will only keep out rust etc. You'll still need filter downstream. I've got the NAPA filter installed that Red Eye recommended. Don't know how fine it gets but I've seen some bike filters that get down to 10 microns and they were fancy chrome ones to boot. Too bad they are not visible under there. A person could design a setup where the back of the tank can lift up like the body on funny cars to reveal what's under the "hood".  crazy2

I went through several petcocks for my Ford 8N trying to get one that didn't leak...

So I changed it out with a brass ball valve from Lowes and a fuel filter... about 10 years
ago... still works great..

I keep trying to imagine it on a valkyrie  Cheesy

The NAPA one....about 2 1/2 years now, never has caused a starvation problem. Guess I'll keep it.

Hupcap, if these things used a fuel pump we could use the glass one you show. Just hang it out there for all to see. Not sure about that red handled shut off though.  Grin
