Did a little shoppin after Church today wearing my Trump 2024 ball cap. I'd strike up a conversation with folks talk fer a bit and inform them-do NOT talk to me cuz I am a Threat to AMERICAN Society. Most if not all laughed or chuckled. And oh B T W did NOT meet one democrat today!  GOOD DAY all around! RIDE SAFE. |

Visited cousins on Long Island this past weekend and it wasn't long before politics came up. First topic was student loans, then the constant attacks on Trump, then the horrible job that Biden is doing, then the comparisons to the great things Trump accomplished, then the whole Biden family corruption cover-up for the election, then the laptop, then the one sidedness of the DOJ, then Mar-a-lago.
I was surprised to learn that almost everyone around the table was on the same page. My female cousin was telling us that she ALWAYS hated him and the media made believing all the nonsense very easy. She mentioned pussy grabbing and making fun of the handicapped "journalist". Another cousin who is pro-Trump agreed and said what we ALL kept saying,.... that sometimes he would wish he would just shut up, or not dwell on something that makes him look petty because the opposition media would latch on to every word and exploit everything he said and did. That got a round of agreement from everyone.
When the conversation started, I said to myself "Here we go" and expected to have to walk away to avoid confrontation, but everyone who had something to say was quite informed about the current and past events that lead up to all of this.

Its all about the degree of the disagreement, and the willingness to respect a person's standpoint despite disagreeing vehemently with it. If the degrees of disagreement are less consequential, a bridge to some civility and respect is easier to achieve. When disagreements become fundamental, it's a bit more difficult. Problem is, the issues are becoming very black and white (no pun intended) nowadays and there's not much middle ground. I was at a gathering some years ago, and while hanging around a campfire was listening to some liberal banter passed around with a whiskey bottle. I was able to deal with the typical "ists" and "isms" regarding conservatives for awhile, even yukking them off and joking back in kind. All was good until the conversation somehow drifted around to religion, faith and Christianity. Now I sure don't have any problem with anyone's beliefs, or lack of them. But it's sure hard to find common ground after your faith has been openly belittled by those with none. I haven't hung out with those folks since. |

No politics at the card game last night. Never know where I stand with NY lawyers and judges. There were little slips and hints about what some thought, but no full blown conversation ensued. And last night was surely MY night. Won the first 2 big hands and then a few more along the way. Laid down a bunch before they got expensive, and walked away with enough for a half a tank of gas.  |
