    I bought the K&N filter recharge kit, don't remember the cost but it wasn't too bad. I think Directline has them.

Most local auto stores has the kit. There all the same for their filters. I take mine out every spring, rince it off in the sink, no harsh water stream, and let dry a day or so. Then spray the red oil stuff on it and put back on the bike. Really simple. In the 45,000 miles it has on the filter it looks new. Very little dust and a occasional bee carcass. Drain your underneath tubes after a month or 2 of riding. Some of my filter oil runs down there.
I do the same in my Z-71.

A friend of mine applied too much of a coat of oil and it cut his gas mileage way down and hurt performance.  A very light coat is sufficient to trap dust and dirt...JTL   Wink
