So who of us never smoked? I stole several cigarettes from my grandmothers pack at the age of 8 or 9. Rode away on my bicycle and smoked one up. Turned green and never tried another my entire life.
I did use chewing tobacco lightly for years. When I was 15 I was working for farmers and during wheat harvest that summer I got to drive the wheat truck to town about every other load. Back then one way of encouraging people not to smoke in the dry fields (fire control) was the CO-OP hand out free Red Man when you dumped a load of wheat. I liked it right off, never used it regular back then but I did use Skoal for 20 years. I haven't used skoal for 3.5 years now.
So I guess my lungs should be good but who knows on the gums.

I am a 62 yr old tobacco virgin. Never used any form of tobacco and detest being in a room, car, etc. with a smoker. Colorado passed a state law a couple yrs ago banning smoking in any public place throughout the entire state. Makes eating out a lot more enjoyable.

Never smoked anything ever. But as a kid I sure had my share of second hand smoke. My dad, all my uncles, my grand-dad, ect. One memory from my school days is going to basketball games and the top 3 or 4 rows of bleachers were almost completely obscured by cigarette smoke.

Tried a cigarette and a cigar as well as a chew. I decided if I was going to smoke, it should at least get me high. Haven't smoked anything in years but might if glaucoma sets in.

Never smoked, never drank. Tried them both at a young age. YUCK. I still take a slug of beer every few years just to see what all the hubbub is about it. Still don't like it. I guess the biggest thing I have against the drinking thing is all the lives I've seen ruined or diminished by alcohol. Keeps me from even thinking seriously about it. Besides, I have "natural stupid", don't need to get mine from a drink! I don't get the smoking thing at all. All I do is ride this big motorcycle & eat too much. Sometimes I ride to eat!

Tried cigars, didn't like them. Tried dippin' but didn't like the burning in my mouth. Guess I never wanted to try cigarettes after being around Mom and her heavy smoking.

Started smoking cigarettes occasionally in high school, but stopped mid way through college. Stopped smoking the "good stuff" around the same time, too - probably never would have graduated if I hadn't. Little story: After not smoking any weed for years, I happened to be over at Willie Nelson's studio doing the lighting on a music video for some band that I can't remember. Anyway, Willie showed up to say hi and of course, he lit up a joint. Out of courtesy, I went ahead and sampled just a small taste...well, sometime later I found myself driving home through the Texas Hill Country at around 5 mph trying to "act natural". Don't remember much else that day. That was 14-15 years ago and I haven't touched anything ( smoking wise) since.

We talking smoking tobacco or other stuff? Back in my amature bull riding days in the mid 90's I chewed Skoal flavor pouches. Those didn't last long. I would occasionally get some in the spring and use during construction. Same with Bandits. That has long died. Now Camel has Snus and I love it! I use it mostly when riding. No addiction. A tin will last me a month or so. I lit Kits cig for her one day in Sturgis 08. I musta not did it right cause I left it soggy. I'm a poor smoker. I have asthma but never cared to start smoking. I have the other stuff. Maybe once or twice a year. Been a year since the last time. Like I said, I'm a horrible smoker and perfer it second hand!

Tried one cigeratte at about 14 years old, turned green, tried rabbit tobacco a couple times, not quite the same color green. Then I found that wacky weed, and whew, I liked that stuff as well as other illegal substances. Even growed my own. Smoked a few cigars and a pipe occasionally. Then in Oct 1976 gave it up. God done got hold of me and made me a believer.

I tried it when I was in highschool. My Dad smoked for years when I was a kid, so thought it must be ok. I didn't really like it, but was hanging with friends that smoked, so I had to do it too. That summer, my Mother almost caught me smoking and I decided right then and there that it was bad for my health. My Mom would kill me if she caught me smoking, so I never tried it again.

When I was single, every girl/woman I ever knew, or mainly wanted to know, smoked! So for about a month I tried to learn how to smoke. Bought two packs of Marlboro, ‘cause those are the cool brand. Went threw one pack, and then threw out the other.
Personally can’t stand the smell of cigarettes, I work in a company were 95% of the employees smoke, taking their additional breaks, while I get reprimanded for writing these types of things on VRCC while they go out to smoke!! If I get fired, it’s your fault!!!
Did the chew thing in high school, until my gums started to recede on my lower jaw, that’s never healed either, even after 30 years!
Just buried my father last December, he was given his first cigarette from an American GI right after WWII. Quite for 20 years, he had lung cancer.
