While generally speaking, I'm not for mixing the sexes in sports, this I found pretty cool. Oklahoma high school calls upon two girls to help avoid forfeithttps://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/oklahoma-high-school-calls-upon-two-girls-to-help-avoid-forfeit/ar-AA12cTQM?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=890d817564074dae9340f2664ad6e9adWewoka (Okla.) High School, located about 70 miles southeast of Oklahoma City, is a quintessential small-town school. With less than 200 students total, per MaxPreps, simply getting enough players suited up can be as big a challenge as actually playing the game, similar to what many other schools around the country face. After having to forfeit on Sept. 9 due to a lack of players, the team was facing the same proposition on Friday. Maybe they'll graduate and play for OU. After last night's game with Kansas State Wildcats, I'm thinking OU could use them. Rams

I think it’s great that they stepped and helped their team. And it appears they did pretty good. But, I think I’d have a hard time if I was one of the opposing players. Football is a pretty violent game. Even at the High School level. Every being of my upbringing was not to hurt girls, but to protect them. I imagine many of those kids were raised the same.

Good on them - they may well be more athletic than some of the guys. I know putting me on a high school team was almost like adding another player for the other team... ( yes, I was THAT bad an athlete).

Well, while I do understand your thought process and agree to a great extent, I personally see all opposing players as opponents. If someone wants to play the game, it's a contact game and they will get hit. Would you feel the same if a woman was on an opposing military force or robbing you? Again, while I did think the original story was pretty cool, anyone that suits up can expect me to play by the rules. If they don't like the rules, don't suit up. Having said all that, I'm pretty sure these gals expected to receive and give equal treatment. Rams

I do not see the issue, especially in high school and if the girls wanna play, go for it. Now, that lingerie football league is more to my likin though would like to play the line against a few of those ladies if I was on defense, they on offense tackling and trying to tackle the QB or running back. I bet a lot of those heavier gals on the line though would kick my _utt pretty good though as well.

Would you feel the same if a woman was on an opposing military force or robbing you? Rams Probably not. I think I could differentiate between a sporting event and a war or robbery. Just so you are clear. I’m not taking anything away from these girls or others who wish to participate. I just think as an opposing player I would not be able to knock the living crap out of them. (It’s probably just a shortcoming of mine)

About the only response I have is, if I'm on defense and they are carrying the ball or blocking for a runner, I'll do what it takes (within the rules) to tackle that ball carrier. If they are on defense and I'm a blocker, they will get blocked. My goal would not be to knock the living crap out of anyone but, if they want to play the game, there are consequences and rewards to every move. Rams

Provided the players and the parents can live with the consequences of playing this game what does it matter. Minor and major injuries happen even at the hs level and concussions are always possibilities as well. Let them play provided they are physically and mentally capable, it’s a grueling game.

Pretty much agree. I'm still paying the price for injuries incurred while in high school and college. Some from sports but just as many from the ladies I dated. Some of those cowgirls can be down right mean (in a good way). Rams

Awesome smiles Looks like their really enjoying it. I can see a change in the huddle conversation. "Hey, great hit! What are you doing Friday night?"

Maybe they’re not playing full games and only running plays that keeps the main focus away from them. Let them have fun and learn a little providing they stay safe and hopefully no players from other teams take cheap shots. If that happens hopefully the guys will offer a little payback for the girls.

There was a Lingerie League in Roanoke for awhile. For some reason the wife who is a much bigger football fan than me had no interest in attending any of their games.
