So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Something to think about....

A guy sends you a friend request. He looks nice enough, so you check him out on FB before accepting.  Awe, he’s got a wife and just the Cutest Kids. You don't know him; but, he's a Family Man and his profile and info is all good; so you accept his friend request.

It's your baby girl's first day of school.  She looks SO cute in her new outfit and you just have to take a picture and post it on Facebook so all your friends and family can see.

You're so excited dropping her off that you 'Check in' to her school on FB saying...”I can't believe how big she's gotten. Time sure flies. One proud momma/daddy right here.”

Meanwhile, the mystery guy whose friend request you hurriedly accepted previously, is saving that photo you posted of your daughter in her cute new outfit, to his phone and texting it to 60 other grown men across the world with the caption - American Female, Age 8,
Brown Hair, Blue Eyes, ID# R8000.

Not only did you provide a picture of your little girl to a child trafficker, you've handed him the name and exact location of her school on a silver cyber platter.

You go to pick her up at 3:00 this afternoon; but, she's nowhere to be found.

Little do you know, your precious baby girl was sold to a 43 year old pedophile before you even stepped foot off campus this morning; and, now she's on her way to Asia with a bag over her head, confused, terrified and crying.

A strange man she's never seen before, snatched her up from school in less than 10 seconds.  She doesn't know where her parents are, where she's going, or what's going to happen next, it’s hard for her to breathe and she’s all alone and terrified!!!!!  And, YOU did this to her, unknowingly...

But, now you know

Good info Ron.  When caught should be executed and given a fair trial a week later.  I have read a lot on the sex trades and it is a terrible life for the people involved.  They do not have any rights to anything.

I have never understood why some parents post so much info about their kids.  Naivete, I guess?  Ignorant?  I have no idea, since I don't have kids.
Anyway, I am of the belief that there is no punishment severe enough for child molesters or traffickers.  It needs to be a capital offense.  Louisiana used to have the death penalty for child rape, but it was overturned by SCOTUS a few years ago.

While there is no doubt this kind of thing happens.   I guess the whole point is, the vast majority of people post way too much information on FB.   They tell the world when they are going on a trip (when they won't be home), they take pics of themselves in locations far from home (again, to the world).

True story, a friend used to post way too much information such as mentioned above, came home from a trip and discovered his home and shop were broken into and virtually all his high dollar tools and a lot of other valuable items were missing.

He and his spouse now only post to FB such things after they get home.   Lesson learned.

Facebook treats anybody posting there like a farm animal, you're just a cow that they milk for cash. My kids made an account for me several years ago in order to play some game they wanted to play. I canceled it as soon as they were old enough and never participated in any of it.

Bottom line, stay away from that fraud and your life will be better.

I never post when I am going on vacation, I only post after I'm home.
I knew a woman on facebook who would post her entire agenda, where she rode her bike, her exact route, etc.  She would post the bars she was going to.  Then told me she was worried about stalkers.
Told her that her entire life was on Facebook and if someone wanted to abduct her, attack her, etc, they had everything they needed.

People are stupid.

Also, I do not post my city of residence, or my workplace.  Also, my entire profile is private to all but friends.  But, my friends list is completely private, even to other friends.  That keeps someone from copying a friends' profile and trying to scam me.  Any new friends request (I don't get many) I check to see if I have them in my list.

Facebook offers a lot of things if you're careful with it.  I have sold 3 cars and a motorcycle on there, along with lots of other things without having to lose $$$ to ebay.  If I meet someone in person to exchange money, I always have backup.  The reach is very large to not take advantage of it.  I know a lot of scammers try to scam people who post ads, but there are things to watch out for there, also.  Again, if you're careful, you can use it as a very good tool.

I was on FB for just under 48 hours.  Against my better judgement, I opened an account so I could access a local army truck group.  I looked at their page once and the next day I got a notice that my account had been disabled because I violated the rules, but they didn't say what they think I did.  I later got a notice that I may be able to appeal their ruling and get my account reactivated.  It sounded like if I grovel sufficiently, they just may consider opening my account.  The whole thing pissed me off so I sent them a note back telling them to please close my account and quit trying to contact me.
