I BOUGHT THE BIKE WITH SPOT LIGHT FITTED, THEY ARE WIRED INTO THE HIGHBEAM WIRING SO THEY COME ON WHEN FULL BEAM IS ON. I AM EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM THAT WHEN I TURN ON THE IGNITION, START THE BIKE WITH THE LIGHTS ON LOW OR DIPPED BEAM ALL IS WELL, BUT SOMETIMES WHEN I TURN ON THE FULL BEAM, AFTER A MINUTE OR SO, I NOTICE A SLIGHT DIP IN THE BLUE HIGHBEAM WARNING LIGHT, THEN FOLLOWING THIS THE FULL BEAM WILL NOT TURN OFF BACK ONTO LOW BEAM.
I HAVE STRIPPED AND CLEANED THE LIGHT SWITCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE FINE, ANYONE ANY IDEAS PLEASE, COULD THERE BE A RELAY CAUSING THIS PROBLEM, ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AS ITS DOING MY HEAD IN ATTHE MOMENT!
THANKS GEORGE.

if it hasnt had the relay mod(search the tech archives) all that juice is going thru your starter switchand heatting up the contacts there,or it is to much juice for the hi/lo beam switch

Ya might want to check this terminal under the right side cover.   Driving lights wired into the headlights without a relay kind of cuase this melting of plastic..

This is inside of that rubber boot..........

I had a part # for a new recepticle for an older Gold Wing, can't lay my finder on it right now.  I'll keep looking and if anyone has it add it here.

My Standard had auxialliary highway lights installed by the PO. No relay. I never had any symptoms as you've had; one day the bike would't start. Checked the starter switch, intending the do the recommended maintenance, the contacts which operate the starter and lights were melted into the plastic slide. No repair possible and you can't just buy the contact piece. One starter switch and three relays later, I'm older and wiser.
So, I would check it out, you may be able to clean and lube it before it fries completely.
