I have a 1999 IS trike and want to eliminate the radio, CB, controls, and all associated equipment and cables. I saw a few threads where it was done, but no-one gave any details. When I remove everything will I still have my tach and speedometer? Will it kill the fuel gauge? I would appreciate it if anyone has done it and is willing to share their experience.

I am going to build a custom dash with gauges and other goodies like USB and power ports. I use my phone connected to my Sena Bluetooth communicator for music, communication and navigation.

Thanks in advance.

I see that you have the radio and everything listed. I am definitely interested in pulling mine as well, were you able to keep the fuel gauge?

Yes, the fuel gauge still works. You will lose everything else. I am planning a winter project design, build and install a custom dash. I have some ideas, but have not finalized anything as yet.

Check out marine radio’s as well. Most of them have a remote style display and controls that might be easier to install, also more weather resistant.

Good suggestion. I have looked at some marine instruments. Autometer and others also make weather resistant gauges. I found some really cool digital panels, but nothing waterproof yet. Perhaps in marine gear.

i was just talking to my father-in-law this weekend about removing all that since new technology is taking over and most of that is not used today. did you lose tach, speedometer odometer? i noticed the clock was controlled by that box but wasn't sure what other features was controlled and would be lost.

I lost the clock, and of course the radio indications. Fuel gauge works. Tach and speedo work.
