Bought my 1999 Valkyrie 2 year ago, the pic are of the exhaust that the bike came with, I don't know what style they are.   I have purchased original exhaust from ebay and the piglets were cut.  I have restored the piglets with copper and it's much quieter.  Thinking of making it quieter, have purchase 4" x 15" turn down stacks from Amazon, found on the forum from someone else that used them, and ordered the 4" slip in silencers.  Will test it and post when done.   I like to be able to listen to the radio and planning on doing some long trips when I retire.   Any just courious what the old pipes are.

How long is the chrome truck stack which has been slipped over the OEM exhaust internals?

They look like Mark T's with the silencers, if you remove the silencer, whats inside?

Nope.  Those aren't mine.  That's the "Easy Glasspack Mod" that Lamont Bryden (Lamonster) developed.  Yeah it's easier but it's a compromised and weak design.  Ernie Schuster copied that mod and produced it for some years until he kicked the bucket.  Not a good mod as it's weak where the stack is slipped over the stub of the collector, will loosen and wobble in a little time.  That design has carraige bolts inserted in a stack to hang the exhaust on the bike's rear hanger/pass footpeg bracket.  Also the design includes using a threaded galvanized iron water pipe reducer as a header collector with a nipple welded on the glasspack as the assembly hardware which  results in the need to use anti-seize on the threads, and regular "exercising" the connection so it doesn't seize - by making a special long spanner wrench.  Messy, and water pipe and screw threads are not appropriate exhaust hardware - and is needlessly heavy.   I use custom-made proper header collectors - had them made for years but am now tooled up so I can make them in the shop of proper aluminized exhaust tubing.

I developed the repurposed use of the back baffle section into "silencers" which Ernie had sort of copied here.  These pictured are not mine as I don't remove the fwd skin section over the fwd lands, and don't use the tab on the piggy to mount.  Ernie was prone to copy other's inventions.  Couldn't copy the Trombones as I patented them.  And kept my processes and tooling secret - though there was an attempt at espionage.  Caught a visitor photographing my custom presses when I had to leave the shop and go to the office. He was visiting from Ohio.

Tried something new, purchase the stack ends from Amazon, found out from someone elses post, purchase the 4" silencers from CP Performance.   Wrapped the silencers with  Scotch Brite SS Scubbing pads, tapped the silencers into the stacks.  I made piglets for the oem pipes, but they are to long to use with the Stack ends.  Made 3 inch pipes to fit in the stacks.   Sounds good, but still a little loud, looking for quieter for long rides, but this may work, raining to day, will be out testing it tomorrow with my Cardo and bluetooth radio.  3/4" inch copper pipe fits in the exhaust holes, I crimp the edges and tap them in and apply gasket sealer around them.
