I finally bit the bullet and bought an external antenna for my wireless modem. It woks much better but now I need to figure out a reasonable way to get this thing up about 25-30 feet.
I've been looking for a used tower but I'm not having much luck. Besides, the antenna is very small and really doesn't need a tower.
Any thoughts?
Cheap and easy, and not ugly?
And of course no guy wires.
Am I asking for too much?  crazy2

Don't know exactly what your situation is but a pretty inexpensive possibility might be drive short length of pipe in ground. Size pipe to fit as snugly as possible inside PVC 2" pipe.  Paint pipe black to make less noticeable. Mount antenna on top end of PVC with any leads run through holes drilled in PVC.  Slide PVC down over pipe driven into ground.  If PVC is seems too fexible, either place next to end of house so it can be attached or use aluminum tubing rather than PVC.  (Just a "rigging" thought: If you want to try to hide it more, drive iron pipe at base of tree in yard, tie tubing off to tree w/antenna hidden in or slightly above tree?????)  Sorry, if this seems silly but ... !!! uglystupid2

tv antenna mast. lightweight.  tie off at the peak of the roof, will extend another 20 or so feet w/o guy wires. paint it to match the house and above the roof paint it sky blue.

been there done that, works great.

Not bein' nosey but is this a antenna you can use to score freebie internet from the neighborhood ? My daughter lives behind us and she can get a signal from us if she places her laptop in the window I was wondering if the antenna you are talking about would let her get a stronger signal ? If this is the type antenna you just bought does it come with wiring to plug into the USB port ? What about cost and brand name ? I've been looking at one on flea-bay for around $50.00.

It's a small yagi antenna for extended cell phone reception. I plug it into my air card. I have a 2g tower 2 miles from me (very very slow) and a 3G tower 5 miles from me (nice speed) so I have to use an external antenna to get the 3G tower.

There are LOTS of DIY antennas for WIFI reception on the net, they work very well. That is what you are looking for. It should work great for you.
