We very briefly have a visitor at the house for a few days, as Kali is in transit from her base in California to her training in Virginia....

...and it just so happens that early voting is open in The Republic of Texas...

And... she hadn't ridden since her accident in WV during the Athens IZ, and was mentally ready, so I put 2 and 2 together and hatched a plan...

She was nervous, but I talked her through the nerves (Helmet to helmet comms rock) and we made it to the early voting center...

Off to do our civic duties...

Mischief Managed...

She initially wanted to go straight home, wasn't up for a ride. We hit the road and were headed that way when she decided she wanted to ride just a LITTLE bit more, so we ended up at a local Italian restaurant...

Just as we were dismounting, I got a message from my dad that his "Can't eat for 36 hours" medical procedure was finished, he was famished and was headed to Denny's... I suggested I had a better idea, oh.... and I have Kali with me.....

Mimi and Papa very happy to see Kali.....

Initially the plan was I'd park the Goldwing in the garage, she'd park the Valk at the end of the driveway, then I'd do the tricky maneuvering through 3 parked cars, lots of loose dirt, pecans, pecan branches etc into the garage.....

I parked the 'Wing, was dismounting and getting ready to go guide the Valk in when "I am a 20 year old US Army Soldier. I can ride a motorcycle through a $#()@#$@% parking lot!"

"Kali, it's okay, I believe you."

"....I wasn't talking to you."

as the Valk comes into the garage...

So anyway. I know, not the longest ride for a ride report, maybe 10 miles total if I'm optimistic about it, but first ride after a major unscheduled dismount, having her home however briefly, and being able to vote with her were big enough things I felt like sharing.....

What a great day you had.  And others too.   cooldude

She is looking fit, and acting confidant.

On the other hand, my day sucked.  All the leaves fell at once.   tickedoff

Have to love it when a plan comes together, when there was no plan. How long is her stay?

Spontaneity…spur of the moment, whichever you choose often make for great memories.

Good to hear she’s not afraid of the bike and doing some riding, getting back on the horse is the hardest part sometimes.

Glad your Dad’s procedure is done, and hope all goes well.

He was excited, doc told him if this one comes back clean (Think the LaserPat thing) he never needs to do another again, as he turns 80 this year...

Have to love it when a plan comes together, when there was no plan. How long is her stay?

We put her on a plane to her training base early Thursday morning. Not a long visit, but we'll take what we can get... She THINKS she can get back home for Christmas for a week or two, but it's not 100% confirmed yet.

...and to top off the day, Kali helped get the kiddos dressed to go trick or treating...

(How times have changed, Blake wore his kilt to school yesterday. Middle school.... I'm fairly certain if I'd worn a kilt to middle school I would have been tormented 'till the end of time. He got multiple compliments...)

And then entertained the cul-de-sac (Several families in our area set up in their front yard and drink beer, listen to music and hand out candy)

https://rumble.com/v1qz2em-kali-spinning-fire-poi.html

I then threw on my full length, HEAVY black cloak and just casually walked around the neighborhood scaring the heck outta people just by walking...

Not a pic from last night, but imagine a rather tall one of these quietly walking down a dark street:

Several houses in my area REALLY go all out!

Then of course the lesson in why taxation is theft began as the Daddy Tax came into play on the night's haul.....

Not a bad day, not a bad day at all!

Wearing a kilt (to school) is one thing, but when you have some of the other authentic accoutrements that go with it, that's another thing (better).

Poor kids (the few that go in our neighborhood), it was chilly and rained all afternoon and night for them.    Parents with big golf umbrellas gave them shelter, then they ran to and from the doors.

All great news!  I’m glad Kali got to come home for a quick visit.  With military kids, we (parents) will take any and every minute we can get.

I also love her pep talk to herself.  That was awesome!  I’m glad she took on the challenge AND conquered it.  Great job Kali!  What a confidence builder!

Hug those triplets tight.  They’ll be grown before you know it.

While she was home she went through all her stuff to sort out and put away, give away, etc...

"Oh yeah, who's Janice from the VRCC? She wrote me a letter while in Basic, and it really helped me, I never did thank her."

"Remember Sweet Cheeks?"

"Oh yeah! That's her!? PLEASE tell her thank you for me!!!"

So..... Thank you! Smiley

Anyway... The visit was nice, but oh so short, she's now at her training facility in Virginia...

...and was just told the next class might not start until January...

Peak government efficiency, I tell ya'!

I'd tell her to hunt up her course materials and governing regulations and get a jump on the training.

What they normally do is give her make-work to keep her busy, pending start of training.

I was assigned to the Air University (Maxwell AFB) several months before JAG School (also at Maxwell), and was put to work right away.  Then, when I started classes, the boss expected me to come in weekends to work for the office.  Which sucked largely, since school took 7 days a week to keep up.

If she needs anything while she's in Virginia feel free to reach out.

She has several "Family" members in VA that aren't very far away.
