I was just wondering, i know most of us if not all try to cover as much ground in other states and countries as we can, but since the ole money state were in sucks right now and i see no long trip at hand i have decide to ride evey county where i live. There are 254 counties in my state I've rode 146 and will finish all by fall, my question where are ya'll at on this subject?

Don't know what state your from but it's a great plan. Lot's to see without going clear across the country. If I make it to the Whiskey Run I will be within 30 miles of my childhood home and will still be on a lot of roads that I haven't ridden before. I've lived in Kentucky all my life but only have seen a very few of the eastern half of the state. I did ride from Knoxville to Lexington a few years ago and the scenery was great even though I was on I-75 the whole way.

Great idea! Wouldn't work for me, though. I live in the upper notheast corner of TN and it's like 4,000,000 miles to the other end of the state. I'd be better off riding around the whole country!!!

It would'nt be much for me. Although were a bit larger than Texas ( no offence )...... , there is not much of a road system. That's why I am always planing for a road trip outside every summer. http://www.travelalaska.com/Transportation/RoadMap.aspxAl in AK

well i look at it like this! eastern nebraska is the only place so far that even resemble north east indiana. the only curves we really have are the ones right after the stop. turn left you say. also, we get some kicks the way they may on ramps, NC must be a ball. the curves you have match our on ramps. Also, thos are mainly day trips to do other counties. i have a few more states to put on, then i really want to do the 4 corners run. not sure if clockwise or counter clockwise. Anyway, southern indiana is gorgeous country, but for me i will save my money and ride SD this year. may try Inzane just to meet a few of the VRCC riders. not much of a showing up this way of VTCC so i have to go somewhere else.

Sometimes I think I've been on every back road in South Carolina south of 26, but I know it is not true... there's a bunch of counties north of 26, and some of the roads I've been on up there are pretty good for non-mountain roads... we still do a lot of agriculture here, cotton fields are pretty cool... -Mike

mrider, If you haven't hit the Pan Handle, shoot me a line while I am here and I'll show off the Palo Duro Canyon. On the same idea, I was riding last week to one of my grandsons basketball games and I thought why not stop at one of the historical markers. After looking at two or three that day I have decided while between jobs I should do a road side history lesson of the Panhandle.

Fudgie, it sure looks like photo #1 and photo #2 are in very different parts of the state...do you happen to know approximately where they were taken?

Fudgie, it sure looks like photo #1 and photo #2 are in very different parts of the state...do you happen to know approximately where they were taken? Yea I do. The top one is the outskirts of the Badlands on SD 44. I think it was just south of Interior SD. Its about in the last 1/3 of the State. The 'green' one was taken in the Black Hills. Should be Vanoker Canyon Road before Nemo SD. The 2 pix are less then 100 miles apart. Thats what I love about that State. There is all sorts of riding. From 200 miles of rolling prairie to hair pin turns and long sweepers of the Hills.

I think I've hit them all. I did something similar when I was a poor college student. I have yet to do them all in one weekend (thought about it years ago but never did) and I have not been to most recently. I tried to pitch a PBS show doing something similar. I wanted to show a happy couple (me and my wife) exploring this state and its cool niches and low budget vacation spots. Tried to pitch being a relative term. I never made it through the paper work and I never sent it to anyone. Not a bad idea. Just don't have time to travel and film dependably. Couldn't answer scheduling questions. Backyard riding is still good riding.
