Last summer I had a few lady friends out on my tourer with me.

I noticed that on panic stops, she would be thrown forward
into me, ok so, that wasn't bad for me  Smiley, but in one case
she complained about it, and she didn't like having to haul herself
back to the backrest.

The solution must be one of those formed passenger seats,
from Ultimate, say, but look a tad pricey. Any better ideas,
not so much coin?

Maybe an upholstery shop could upgrade the oem seat?

What was the panic all about??? Roll Eyes   A rider backrest will help hold her from sliding too far, I have an Ultimate set-up and without the rider backrest in place she can still slide forward.

I have the backrest in place, i also had a set of armrests
for her.
The panic stop was just the usual accident avoidance,
some cage made me slam on the binders, and even with all
the passenger hardware to secure her, she still flew up, into me.
I was thinking that those 'formed' seats, with the notch,
would mostly prevent the passenger from sliding forward.

Anybody have experience with these upgrade passenger seats.

get a fatter passenger and it won't be an issue Shocked.

I have an ultimate passenger seat for my wife and she likes it and it puts her against backrest.  It was pricey but she likes it and my son rides on it and he doesn't slide around unless he falls asleep.

Yep that's what happened, small girl about 100 lbs
flies into me, leaves indentations in my back, uh, well,
you know.
Also had a larger lady pushin 200 lbs, she did not slide up,
but then uh, there was nowhere left to go.

OK you're telling me that the formed seat does help, now about
how much am I gonna shell out for it, or can I buy it alone.

The ultimate site does not exactly say that the pass. seat
is sold separately.

Yeah, it does.  You have to look under Valk Components.  http://ultimateseats.ca/valkcomponents.html

You're right, #11010, for couple hundred.
That would keep the small girl in place.
Would the shape just bother the larger lady.

Seems like I never get away with payin just 200,
Everything seems to cost 300. The armrests were 300,
the forward controls I'd like to get from BigBikeThings
are at least 300, the J&M CB and radio combo is 500.
Oh well.
Gonna look into ordering the ultimate seat. Thank-you
for the help. Two months to go til she awakes. Bike, that is.

My wife could only ride about 100 to 150  miles on stock seat. With the ultimate all day she's fine. Bought hers first  made springing for the drivers seat alot easier to turn loose of the coins.

I had the Corbins and the wife would slide forward then had the seats custom made and he put a nice scoop in the seat and used better leather no more problems. I only had the stock seat on the bike for a few months and sliding was a problem then too. I could not believe how much different the seat felt with different leather and scooped out you actually grip the seat and dont slide.

I have the Ultimate and my gal loves it. As far as sliding during a panic stop, that's just a part of motorcycle riding!

Hey, You could install a seat belt.....NOT!

Tell her not to wear pants and the skin-to-seat contact will keep her in place! Pix please!  2funny Most, if not all after market seats have the 'lip' on them to help with the forward motion. Kit still slides forward once in awhile esp after I get done putting leather conditioner on the seat! Cheesy I have the Mustang.

Two-part solution, but feel free to have her try one or the other.  In either case, she'll know you care! cooldude:

1. Some exercise never hurts.

2.  Protective leathers.

I don't know how I manage to either find a tiny girl, or
a very large bundle o' sweetness. Politically correct huh?

Think I'll stay with the small lady cuz I dont mind
a little babe punchin those things in my back when she slides up.

A medium sized girl would work too. But the extremely
large, um, sweety, has me pushed so far forward that the
family jewels are sittin on the gas tank.
I remember when I panic stopped with her on, they lodged
in my nostrils, or so it seemed.

The Ultimate rear seat will work with the stanard or tourer front seat. The stock interstate uses a one piece seat but that can be worked arround also. You just have to change both seats at the same time.

Hmmm whenever I do a quick stop the first thing I feel is her helmet clunking into the back of mine.  What am I doing wrong? How do I get those fun parts to get up close and personal?   Evil

I better stock up on brake pads....

The more important thing is to ride safer........too fast for conditions or following too close?   I have had to do such stops, and yes Im always ready for the projectile passenger, but its a rare occurance.  IF this is happening with every passenger or every ride either its intentional or you are askin for a dumpin by your riding habits.  Healing is not fun take my word on that.  Fixing the bike is (if its not your money) but not worth the pain of getting hurt

Yes mr. christopher, good advice, always ride safe, I always do.

I do challenge my riding skill every time I'm out by myself.
but i slow down by a third when she's out there with me.

I heard the 'ouch' in your words, i know you've recently been
through a tumble, hope you're healing well. I didn't mean to
sound like I'm doing this purposely just for goofy fun, no,
I'm describing a problem when i get on the brakes with just
half a panic stop, she slides forward. With a Full panic stop,
well, she nearly gets glued to me. So i now have my answer.
Gonna look at the ultimate pass. seat.

As Hef said, sliding up during panic stop is just part
of motorcycling.

Gotta agree with Chrisj CMA CR3M, and I'll add that if panic stops are an issue, you're not paying enough attention to what's going on around you or way up in front of you.  As a motorcycle instructor, I'm regularly practicing and demonstrating emergency braking, but I can't remember the last time I had to do it for real.  I haven't in the last several years, anyway, and I'm a fairly agressive rider.

P.S. I changed the pic in my previous post.  I didn't realise the second pic wouldn't show, because it worked in the preview.

I think this got off-topic, the original post was about
keeping her in-place on panic stops.

I am quite an aggressive rider, but totally careful
haven't had an accident in thirty years of riding.

i'm looking way up the road, close-in, all around,
interrogate every driver's body language, I gotta
good idea what they're doing before they do.

But you all know when that one cager gives you
1/2 a second to decide if you gonna live or die,
or worse, that's when the binders go no, seems
to happen a lot here in ontario, then there's toronto,
whew, even worse.

All humour aside, when the lady slides forward,
crunches into me, clunks helmets, wiggles around
to re-seat herself, it momentarily knocks me off
the controls and slightly unbalances the bike.
I'm a big fella, the lady does not throw anything
because I'm big, but keepin her planted will be
better for her, and for me.

If you're not having panic stops, well you must live in
a sparsely populated area. Where I live it happens
At Least once a month. Big bike, big guy, and the cager
does not see me, or they just don't care.

Maybe I should move to your wild rose country, less traffic.
