We been getting pounded here since about noon. When I got home from Church
there was a tornado warning in effect (it has passed now) but everyone is
under flash flood watch.

A few months ago my neighbor got the bright idea to throw a culvert and some riprap into
the creek out back to make a bridge. Here's what it looked like after the first good rain:

I just heard the most god awful (downright scary I'm tellin' ya) sound coming from down at
the creek... I think the culvert is mine now.

I'm on a hill also but the front yard is a valley somewhat. I've seen it higher than today but not by much  Shocked

So far we're OK, But thanks for the concern. I went out and checked the creeks and the river about 30 minutes ago. They're up a bunch but still a ways from jumping the banks. Reason I check the creeks is they often jump the banks 1st and flood the road then we are trapped and at the mercy of the river. I used to agree with my neighbors when they said "It's the price we pay for living in paradise". But I'm over that chit now. I'll be stayin up for awhile to keep an eye on things. I really think we are out of the woods as most of the heavy rain passed just as the NFC game was coming to an end. It was a double nail biter for us.  Smiley
I did just see on Charlotte news that our friend "The Detn8er" is about to be under a tornado warning.
Northern edge of the red box was just south of Lancaster, SC.

Hope the rain slacks up some today. We were having flash flood warning last night and the rain was pounding. About midnight the rain and wind was howling, then suddenly it stopped and became quiet. As far as I can tell this morning in the dark we have no damage. The tv news is showing flood waters and raging creeks in Charlotte.

We got hit hard last night, from about 9:p till 2:a. I never heard it rain so hard, and on the bright side, it's sunny and warm outside now. The bad news, three frogs lost it to the rain. Wink

Hope everybody else is ok!!!!

The culvert went about 100 yards down the creek and landed on the other side. I went down and
took a picture this morning, but I have a Mac at work now and iPhoto is too intuitive for me to figure
out how to edit the picture down to a polite size  Smiley

The creeks were up, yards were flooded, but I didn't pass anyone that looked hurt or severly damaged. I think we were largely lucky. Seems to have loosened some trees, but didn't casue any lasting damage (at least on my commute path).

I acutally had a nice ride in. 50 degrees. Dry. Blue sky. Go figure. I think it is supposed to rain all week.
