"AN APEX IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE"

Well I have been working on my winter project a NEW to me ( 99 Valkyrie Tourer ) and have replaced the Fuel Petcock with a NEW OEM as well as de smogged the bike while I was in there. Needless to say I am putting things back together and have replaced all the fuel lines as well as vacuum / fuel bowl drain lines, but for the life of me cannot remember which line feeds the vacuum for the petcock and the service manual I have is of little help.

It doesn’t matter which I take manifold you connect it to. As long as the others are capped off. I think number 6 is the OEM hook up.

I don't know the number, but I think it's the closest one to the petcock; left rear (?).

The shorter the line, the easier to run and less likely to get damaged or degraded (maybe).

Sounds reasonable to me, I just was having a terrible brain fart moment. And that would make sense as after doing the De smog I ended up with caps on all the intakes LOL

Right rear is easier for me to get my meat hooks in.  Be sure to use  G O O D  hose to cap off the others.

Right rear is per manual as far as connection. For taking off the tank, aren't you suppose to remove the vacuum line at the petcock though? Btw, I tried left rear but found there are more lines to snake the vacuum line through. Don't remember why I had pulled the vacuum line from the carb.

so on both the bikes i have worked on the were both on the back left intake tube. i went with a non-vacuum petcock now so i deleted it. but like everyone else said left or right rear intake tube will work. just whatever is the best route for what you are doing.

just removed carbs abou8t 10 ish times chasing my tail so i got re familiar with all the lines plus i replaced all the lines new.

My error, vacuum line goes on the Left Rear runner (6).

Another member's pic, but the plugs might develop a crease not easily visible. My theory is it's probably from getting banged around when washing too vigorously under there.

Like a lot of us , old age is setting in. I replace all the lines when I de-smog.  Heat and age destroy the lines.

Not on my face.   Grin  (sorry, no tech humor)

Heat from the intake nipples is what I think causes the cracks right where they go over the nipples.
