another carb question
«

I have my carbs back together and ready to reinstall but I have another question. When taking my pilot jets out carbs 1-4 were set 2 turns out from bottom, carbs 5-6 were at 1 1/2 turns out. Im seeing references as 2 1/4 being the base line. I've always had a bit of popping after adding glass packs and k&n filter. I'm figuring to set 1-4 at 2 1/4 turns and 5-6 to 2 turns. My bike is a 97. Any thoughts on this?
TIA

I personally would set them all the same. They may have been adjusted by someone that was trying to stop popping. If you have glass packs and k/n I would do 2 1/2- 2 3/4 to start. Less restriction on intake and exhaust will cause it to run lean. Decel popping will probably always be there, just hear it more with louder exhaust. Don’t forget new intake o-rings. And check all vacuum lines.

idle mixture screws should all be set the same. carb sycn all carbs are set the same. front two carb needles should be set one step richer per factorypro.com
ditch the k/n lets in two much dirt. oem is a high flow unit, I've dyno'd over 100hp with it. oem last much, much longer than 12k miles

if those carbs ever got gunked up by bad gas or dried out, they probably won't run best at the standard 2 to 2 1/4 turns on those idle screws... Just sayin'.
