Mountain Mania III 2023 update

Just spoke with the manager (Boyd) of Meadowlark Motel in Maggie Valley in regards to Mountain Mania III in September 2023.

He will give a 10% group discount. I can block off 15 rooms as of now but if we get more confirmed members to attend, getting more rooms is no issue. We need to reserve rooms sooner rather than later since the rooms in this area fill quickly during this time of year due to people wanting to see the fall leaves changing colors.

--The following is the prices and the amenities which are all included with the cost of the rooms (minus food from the restaurant and alcohol from the bar).

--32 total Non smoking rooms on site

--Room Rates per night with 10% group discount:
-$131 king bed or 2 queen bed

-$360 Cottage 2 bedrooms,1 bathroom, living room, full kitchen, fireplace. Only 1 of these are available.

--All rooms include:

Contential breakfast.
Free dinner and live music on Saturday @ 6pm.
Fire Pits w/ wood included.
Restaurant on site is open w/ Speakeasy (full bar).
We can walk to Wheels thru Time museum from this motel.
J. Arthurs Steakhouse is directly across the street.

--You can cancel up to 15 days / 2 weeks prior to check in date with NO penalty. After that time, you will be charged.

Judy and I are planning to attend but the hotel has no info of it taking place yet.

Trish and I made reservations, but the hotel still doesn't have any record of the ride yet.  We reserved ours under Military discount.  $291 total with taxes using Military rate for a King for 2 nights.  She said it was $131 and change a night plus taxes.

I've made our reservation for Friday and Saturday nights.  I assume you'll alert us at least 15 days in advance if Amber won't be there.  Oh, what the heck, I might even arrive just for the pleasure of your company, Jason.

I still have NOT made contact with the manager in regards to making reservations. I've called several times and left messages for Boyd the manager and have not been called back yet.  I understand you want to get your rooms reserved just as I do BUT we have plenty of time before we need to begin looking for a different venue.  I've done this successfully for the past years with NO issues.  It is still January and the event isn't until September. It will be  handled with plenty of time to spare. However, if someone else would like to take the lead then be my guest.
If not,  then please do as I have instructed and standby until further information is available.

I did let the poor girl that answered the phone know that we were planning on needing at least 15 rooms and if he couldn't be bothered to call me back that we would find an alternative location to spend our money at.  So, I'm guessing that I should hear from him sooner rather than later.  We will see... and I'll keep everyone informed.

... and wouldn't you know it.  Boyd did call me back at 1630 but I missed his call. He did say he'd hook us up with a group discount as he said before and apologized for not getting back to me sooner.  I hate to have to get ill with a business in order to be treated properly but it usually does work.
So I'll call him in the morning and get back with y'all as soon as I know the details.

Any of our blocked off rooms not reserved by August 22, 2023 will be released. So, make your reservation no later than this date to ensure that you get a room at the discounted rate.

Well, I still have a few irons in the fire but, I'll be working on it.   I'll bust my butt making it to InZane and if things work out, I'd like to go to this Non-Event.   Can't promise anything at this point but, I assure you, if I can do it, you'll be the second person I tell.

We were going back over our reservations for the rest of the year to double check and found we had not cancelled the reservation for this ride.  Guy on the phone at the hotel said he was not told that this event was cancelled.  We cancelled our room.  Trish & Dan
