I was watching an interview about how to prepare for the weather we just had. One thing the gentlemen said (ex military) was that you should have a satellite phone in the case of loss of communication.
So, I did a quick search and found that Garmin sells them but, they are sort of tiny and have very short antennas. All the SAT Phones I have seen on TV had substantial antennas.
So the question is, does anyone have a SAT Phone they would recommend for emergency use or does anyone have a recommendation based on personal experience.

As in all things cell phone, it's not just the phone, it's the carrier that's really important.
