Okay, try to envision this situation.
You've a mouthful of Listerine. You know, the expensive stuff. For some reason your nostril begins to tickle and you feel a sneeze coming on. You don't want to waste the mouth rinse and start over but the sneeze is definitely going to happen. You're right over the sink so you think either way is no mess. You clench your teeth tightly and there it goes. You've saved the stuff but the sneeze, not a gentle one, blows entirely out your nose. It's been such a success that you think maybe this would be a way in public to avoid those accusing glares when you get dust up your nose.
It hurt. My nose, even with two exits, is not prepared for the same volume as my mouth manages. My eyeballs both stayed in their sockets and I don't think I broke any blood vessels. It's good to learn what one can or cannot do.

I had a similar experience with a mouth full of 18 year old Single Malt Scotch, which is substantially pricier than Listerine...
...I should have just spit it out... The nasal burn wasn't worth it!

Sneezing! It has been the bane of my existence since my heart episode in 2012 when I nearly checked out. I was kept in a comatose state chemically for nearly two weeks until they were able to close me. During that time and a few more days following my sudden awakening(nearly scared Rita out of her wheelchair), they had various tubes down my throat that created quite an irritation eventually. Ever since, I choke easily and cough quite often, the cough always will trigger a series of sneezes...usually three at a minimum but often more. That creates another problem...pain in the rib cage where some floating ribs on the right side become painful after about #3. They were messed up during football and never regained their proper shape or location and any sharp impact or leaning on them...oh my! So now when I have a coughing fit, I know to grab a tissue or hanky cuz I know what's coming before long. And when it happens while brushing my teeth, it's time to clean the mirror.  And yes, the nose has provided an exit and believe me...toothpaste can also sting. |

Where you sneeze in bright lights?
I've got it pretty strongly, growing up I thought EVERYONE had it. When I was first dating my wife, I had a sneeze on the verge, so I did what I always did, stared at a light bulb to encourage the sneeze...
Dear wife asked me... What the ($)#@$#@ was I doing???
"Trying to force the sneeze, why?"
She'd never heard of the photic sneeze reflex, and I thought it was just something everyone has...

Sometimes, if I've been indoors and go outside directly into bright light, I can sometimes have a sneezing fit come on just from the bright lights... |

Sometimes, if I've been indoors and go outside directly into bright light, I can sometimes have a sneezing fit come on just from the bright lights... Interesting. I’ve never heard of that. I did have a friend in Junior High who would have seizures from flashing bright lights. He would intentionally bring them on by looking up at the sky and flashing his hand in front of his face. I have no idea why. But he nearly died from it a few times. It probably has no relationship to the sneezing. Just made me think of it. |

Sneezing in a diving mask sucks too. Or a whole series of them while operating a motor vehicle in traffic. My whole life, my sneezes come in threes (like 90% of the time) (sometimes more but rarely less). At least I know what's coming. I have a very mild allergy to beer hops, and have blown cold beer out the nose several times. Refreshing. It's one of my party tricks in company. |

I get a sneezing fit about once a week. I found rinsing my nostrils with cold tap water to alleviate the "trigger" so to speak. And there's nothing worth not wasting compared to the mess that can happen and I got bend over to clean up. |
