It never seems like a new year to me. It's just one day after yesterday. I will still be screwing up my checkbook (dates) for weeks (or months).

I will still be screwing up my checkbook (dates) for weeks (or months). You still write checks?!?!?! Got in a nice ride today so far, t-shirt weather... Didn't go out too long, emotional day, have to give our soldier back early this evening. But nice weather for it at least. After the last few, I'll hope for a mediocre new year. I'd love a happy one, but mediocre will do...

She went to Great Lakes region with her family to visit other family there and he came home for about a week. All three were home and it felt great. Unfortunately there came a time he had to go but I’ll say this it gets a little easier. My youngest has been home for almost 3 weeks and leaves Thursday I think to go back to grad school.

Speaking of a rewarding year, my calculations show (for SS and Federal pension) an annual raise of a bit over $4K (together).
I do not approve (at all) of all the tax and spend going on, but considering all the taxes I've paid over a lifetime (and continue to pay), I'll take it. This does not make me a socialist.

I got to take a short ride today. Bike had not been out for a month of so. Weather was nice, about 60 degrees and I just enjoyed the wind and the freedom. Happy New Year and may we all enjoy freedom, fun, and companionship in the new year.

It’s going to be all about attitude and perspective for me. I entered my 7th decade in December so being Happy should come easy for me, just still being around, so many are not.
I’m going to keep a positive attitude, even if it kills me, pun intended. I’m going to limit engaging with negative people and remember how blessed I am every morning. I’m sure some things (circumstances) will get more difficult but that’s life, and I’m a big fan of the struggle.
Shiny side up, dirty side down!

A good year indeed. Some experiences are worth more than inflation can effect.

Our really hard year started in Sept 2021 and ended in April 2022. Yes that's not really a "year", but it encompasses our hardest period of our marriage to date. Gwen had her cancer diagnosis in September, was finished treatment in March, while her Mom's dementia spiraled down at the same time, culminating with her in Assisted living / memory care unit in Febuary. If we can survive that - we can survive ANYTHING !!!

It never seems like a new year to me. It's just one day after yesterday. I will still be screwing up my checkbook (dates) for weeks (or months). Much the same for me, just another day, I don't stay up to see the ball drop or anything else. In fact, I get ticked when the neighbors set off explosive fireworks waking up the dogs and thereby waking me up. We still write a few checks since I got burned by PayPal a while back. So, we don't use PayPal or any other payment method for transactions although all of our normal monthly bills are auto pay electronically. Rams

Got my bike back with a new clutch (and other things). It was the rivets, and on the bench it was a complete mess. The oil screen was filthy with metals and the oil was polluted. '99 Interstate with 58K.
He told me this is a poor design, prone to failure, and the same design clutch was used in older HD Sportsters with similar results.
Also, my polyurethane dampers had crumbled to pieces (after many years of good service). (so if you didn't get one of the early sets that crumbled right away, keep your eye on them after aging)
WooHoo it's back to being a wonderful machine.
So I ask him... do you lose money on Visa?
Yes, 3%.
Will you take my check?
Yours yes.
Tip was cash.
