Throttle assembly irritation
«
on:

Hey team
PO installed Oxford heated grips
I use them once or twice a year
The right grip slides around on the throttle
Kinda gets up my nose a bit,
Any suggestions ?

Remove or superglue them. Definitely don’t leave like that. Could be pretty dangerous.

Super glue dries real quickly and there is no room for error getting them in proper position before they become immobile (or gluing the grips to the housings); like 2 seconds. Nasty cleanup.
I use clear RTV sealant (on the bar end or throttle sleeve, and down the grips, and let it set up for 24 hours. You can take all the time you want getting them in proper position and cleaning up (real easy cleanup.) It dries like rubber adding a bit of cushion to vibration, and if they have to come off for some reason later, it's easier getting RTV off than superglue. Mine may start to get a bit loose after a year or two, and may take some touch-up gooping, but that's also easy.
Clean the throttle sleeve off (maybe a light sanding for glue grip), but carefully, it's plastic and will break. And you can't buy just a sleeve, you have to buy the whole assembly to get a new sleeve (spendy).

Use golf club grip tape. Wrap it around the throttle sleeve in a spiral, remove the paper backing, wet the tape with solvent (mineral spirits or the like), slip the grip on and let the solvent evaporate before riding (24 hrs or so).

Ditto on this. Every time.

I use Automotive Goop or Yama/HondaBond "semi-permanent" (remains pliable) crankcase sealer for grips.
Doesn't crack with shock like alphacyanoacrylate compounds can, and holds well.
