I’ve contemplated making up a set of leads, spark leads for the bike

Last time i took it to the mechanic before the tyre debacle

They said one of my leads is near shot,

So i was thinking on getting some read sheathed or red leads and fitting the to the OEM plug sockets and coil outlets

Any one done similar ?

I'm pretty sure they have, and there used to be a write up on how they
did it in shoptalk that I don't see now...

I don't know the details, but I have the idea that valkyrie spark plug wires
need to conform to a certain set of specifications, resistance? , other stuff?, ida know...
New ones cost an arm and a leg for whatever reason.

Used ones which might be just fine can be had on ebay... Pinwall is one of the
vendors who posts the mileage of the bikes his parts come from. My bike has
one of his rotors and one of his alternators and I can't remember what all else...

I the ink the costing is around the insert cover,,,  though 3d print can fix that ,,,

If it comes to it ill just replace with OEM,

All parts are stupid expensive here and I normally ship direct out of a Honda dealer or one of the more friendly larger stores state side

South Seattle sports plaza used to be great when i had the road star

Thanks for the reply Mike ill watch out

Wolf, send me your email and I'll send you the plug wire conversion write-up. I wrote it up quite a few years ago and don't know why I can't access it on Shop Talk. It has instructions and pictures that allows you to use the OEM plug caps...easy transition, just takes a little time.

John

PS: I'd simply copy/paste here but doesn't seem to work since it has both a Word write-up and pictures.

Yup, that's my write-up. I noticed I had misspelled "alcohol"...probably not the only mistake.

I rebuilt mine using clear red wire from Speedway and using the Shoptalk PDF. On a note, be sure to check the resistors for proper ohm reading @ 5,000 if my memory serves me well today.  Shocked

BTW John my "spell checker" didn't catch it either.  Grin

If you look at the link listed above, it shows two pictures in the ad. One is of an old Ford flattie with Edelbrock heads...talk about bringing back some long forgotten memories. Great looking old engine with the red fuel lines and red sparkler wires. Nothing looks or sounds like those old motors, those with Ardun heads sound even more different and powerful. An old neighbor had a set and I watched as he mounted them and when he fired it up. Turned his old '34 Ford into a real beast. cooldude
