The one symptom that you brought up that caught my eye was "white smoke".  Any time I've ever seen white smoke coming out of an exhaust points me to steam as in a possible coolant leakage into the cylinder(s) which is one only notices once an exhaust is warm enough to quickly boil water.   Have you checked your coolant lately and or your oil for milky appearance?

I'd run a compression test on a warm motor. The side that's lower than the other (aggregated) likely has a faulty head gasket. Replace both if you have the motor apart. Ditto the intake runner seals.

White 'smoke' would be oil. White 'vapor' which dissipates rather quickly would be coolant. Which is it?

Oil is a blue smoke.  If it is coolant, you should be able to smell it, and the smoke will be white.

Another way to tell is how that smoke smells-   Coolant has a sweet smell, it's easy to recognize.  Oil smoke smells well, kind of oily, unsurprisingy.

Is the problem all cylinders or just one or two?
Pull the plug wires off plugs 1 & 2. Conect the wires to spare plugs grounded to the engine. Go for a short ride on 4 cylinders. Repeat with cylinders 3 & 4, and than 5 & 6. Any difference in the 3 test rides. If the problem gets down to a pair of cylinders, do the same to just one plug and test ride on 5 cylinders.
Also, if the white smoke is steam, one spark plug should be steam cleaned. perfectly claen.

Years ago I had a similar problem, I had gone through everything as you have and once it was warm it ran like crap, if it was cold it ran great. I had some bad fuel that was causing my problem. You don't mention anything about getting rid of the old gas.
Just my experience, hope you find the problem.

ok, my mechanic DID do a leak down test on all cylinders as well as oil is clear and coolant is too.
      - damn, thought we had it......
he says his gut feeling is the pickup sensors, really about all that is left....

A shot in the dark here, but is your clutch misbehaving in any way?

Another odd question, ecu? I know the timing is changed as it warms up. Maybe it’s not working right when warm. Just a thought.

Clutch is good, I have read that a lot who change ECU wind up changing pickups for the fix....

the pickup on eBay is gone and having a hard time finding one, anybody got a spare they'd sell?

Although the P/N's are slightly different, pickup for a 1500 Goldwing may work.

What SCain said.  Had same problem.  Checked fire at plugs, fuel delivery.  Had filled up my bike weekend before after a ride with my buds.  We all did at same station.  Different pumps.  Drained almost full tank, got new fuel problem solved.  I ran all that "bad gas" in my push mower.  It ran fine in the mower.

You haven't mentioned what your plugs look like.  Just curious.
