So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

« Reply #80 on: January 27, 2023, 08:30:24 AM »

I have found that after a day of kicking tires, telling lies, and knocking back a few, riding to a restaurant for dinner isn’t always the best thing to do.  Places within walking distance is a definite plus.  Pizza delivery is the obvious answer but gets old. The idea of a food truck is (IMHO) awesome. Thanks Ron!

Janice

Sweet Cheeks,
Appreciate the feedback and just to make sure you know, the Karaoke machine is scheduled right after you knock a few back................  Wink

Serk … glad to hear you and Blake are going to make it. Good catch on the address!

Janice

Agreed, this is wonderful news.   Now we all have someone to look up to.  Wink   Serk being 5 ft. 19 inches tall.  Wink

Valker … when I first called the hotel, they did the same with me.  Angela called me several days later though and got the rest of my info.  She then texted me a confirmation receipt, so hang in there.

Janice

Yeah, I've spoken with Angela a few times.   She tells me they have a "new" reservation system and her folks are learning to use it.   I have made it very clear to her that I'm not very tolerant of screwups.
(Even though I do that frequently)..  Wink

Evidently this hotel isn't used to getting call in reservations....

"Hello, blah blah can I help you?"

"Yes, I'd like to make a reservation please."

"For the Spring Fling?"

She asked me!

Now, just checking, does the registration fee cover the event T-Shirt, banquet and karaoke/stripper event?

For the $1,000 it cost, I hope those things are all included.

I did find it odd that the registration fee needed to be paid by mailing all small bills to a PO box in Hattiesburg, but oh well, I'm a trusting sort.

Serk,
Your registration fee for this event could be returned if, you don't approve of the event tee shirt, banquet and Karaoke performance.   Reference stripers, they only show up if your vehicle has a catalytic converter instailed.   You will rarely see them before they come and go (with catalytic converters).

Please ensure those small bills are not numerically consecutive or newly printed.

Well now you tell us!!  I sent freshly printed bills; they were not numerically consecutive, because they all have the same serial number.

John,
I sense some concern in the message you posted.   Please be aware that these "strippers" have the highest professional standards and you'll be happy it was them versus some shoddy strippers that leave you unsatisfied.  But, I just happen to know that both Serk and yourself own First Generation Valkyries.   May I suggest those bikes be ridden......................

Until my financial situation improves, AND I find someone near me knowledgeable, skilled, and willing to do the rear end maintenance on my '98 Valk it's confined to a mostly Texas bike...

Besides, removal of the catalytic convertors on GL1800's is a generally sought after modification, so hey! Stripper show AND free bike work? Heck yeah!

Reference your 98 Valk, may I recommend Troutdude.   Ride over early and go from there.

Reference that cat removal, I'll be sure to let the "Professional" strippers know you're coming.  Wink

Travel plans? Last year being my inaugural run on the Wing and my first road trip on any motorcycle in years, it turned out to be a solo run all the way from Richmond to Hattiesburg. I super slabbed it all the way, I75 down to Chattanooga and jaunt across part of Georgia and by the time I got somewhere before Birmingham, I had to call it a day. I still had somewhere around 400 miles to do on Friday. Which means I left on Thursday, with the idea I would be a lot closer to the destination than it turned it to be.

Lots of traffic on the Interstates and some particularly long back ups due to some construction in Mississippi that created a few challenges, which involved bending the traffic laws a little bit, maybe. My time in Hattiesburg went by in a flash and while I was supposed to do some wrenching on a certain trike while I was there, a key component didn’t make the trip so I headed out Sunday morning, don’t remember the exact time, but I ran the same course backwards and completed the journey in approximately 10 hours.

I haven’t laid out a definite plan for this year, but I’m open to suggestions and would happily tag along with a small group if any of you are coming from my general direction. Last year was just a gas, pee, and go operation in both directions but I’m flexible on speed, breaks, eating ect, but I have to have my pee break at most gas stops. Just putting a feeler out there to see what everyone else may be doing.

John,
May I suggest that you (and anyone else) traveling to Hattiesburg might want to post the intended route and approximate time frames or midway points of your routes.   It's always good for folks to hook up and ride in small groups.   One never knows when one might need a little assistance.

As stated in the first posting, there is a Class Six (Liquor Store) a very short distance away and a few other restaurants within a very short walking distance if the Food Truck doesn't suit your needs.   I've been advised by several folks that they don't want to drive or ride after having a few drinks and would rather enjoy the evening at Hotel GZ.   Shows a well-adjusted and mature attendance.   Just trying to make it a fun time for all coming.

EDITED:  BTW, the winner of the Annual Lying Contest gets a complete refund of all registration fees as a reward.

Ron,

That food truck is a novel idea, but it's also one I really like the sound of! Between the fried catfish and pulled pork, I may not leave the parking lot during any assembly! You put a lot into these gatherings, my friend, and it shows! Thanks for all the blood, sweat, and tears...

Love the food truck idea! I think I even found a few things on their menu that Blake will eat (He's notoriously an EXTREMELY picky eater. How many 11 year olds won't eat pepperoni pizza or drink chocolate milk?!?!)

It seems one of our esteemed members and competitors in the Annual Lying Contest has thrown a Challenge Flag  Angry  at whom she believes is the judge who (she says) is rigging the process.   I can't and won't state who SHE is but, I am offering a refund of her entry fee and registration payments, the bank is questioning the fresh ink anyway.

Her exaggerations just weren't up to the standards and that's probably why she finished somewhere in the bottom ten (after reassessment).   More information may be released if the true Liars demand it.  Wink   All I can really say at this point is, the judge made his/her decisions based on the credibility of the competitor's ability to convince anyone (which apparently, didn't happen).    2funny

"If"    One of the biggest words in the English language.   But then, should the proposed lie be unrecognizable as a lie, how would one claim winner's status if, that lie was never recognized as a lie?

No such admission of an unrecognizable lie being admitted to is on record and therefore, not recognized as legitimate nor ever even having been told.   An exaggeration could be considered a lie but, was it believed?

Not being affiliated with any approved authority, I can only suggest that Jeff is correct.   There much be a politician involved.

I spent a percentage of my professional lifetime trying criminal cases (on and off witness stands); conducting investigations into all manner of things; interviewing defendants, witnesses, cops; reading sworn and unsworn written statements.  This gives you experience weeding out lies from truth.

But the truth is, you often cannot tell if you are being lied to or not.  And proving a lie is even harder than just knowing it.

Lying, like any other skill, takes practice.  Many honest/moral men have trouble lying, and it can show, but not always.  The gifted liar can look you right in the eye, swear on the Bible, and never blink.

Separating fact from fiction is a jury's job as finder of fact in a public trial.

Remember your first lie?

Mom to child standing over a broken lamp with a guilty face:.  Did you just break that lamp Jess.

Me: No.  I don't know how it happened.     angel

Mom.  So the wind blew it over?  Grin

Me:  Looking at feet, silent.  Busted.    Lips Sealed

Your statements are contradictory.  You first stated that the it's dependent on the "ability to convince anyone (which apparently, didn't happen)."  But. then state to claim winner's status, the lie has to "recognized as a lie."

It can't be both.

John,
I have to ask, are you interested in the judging criteria because you want to be involved in the judging, a knowledgeable observer, participate in the actual contest or, are you running for office?

Just need to know how low one needs to go to win! I have no credentials to be a judge for anything other than stupidity. cooldude I will definitely want to be an observer and would like to be in the contest if I can afford all the registration fees and payoffs. coolsmiley I’m looking for vacant offices to run for but none have presented themselves at this point. If I can’t win the contest, I would have no business running for office! Grin Grin
