I got this notice from the AMA today via email.

Connecticut Senate President Pro Tempore, Martin M. Looney, has introduced S.B. 96, a bill that would automatically assume any motorcyclist killed on the road is an organ donor if they were riding without a helmet, a choice currently available to riders over 18 years old in Connecticut.

This bill is an outrage and should offend every American, not just motorcyclists. Organ donation is a noble cause that regularly saves lives around the country, but the decision to become a donor is a deeply personal one — a decision this legislation takes away from motorcyclists.

Connecticut residents can make their voice heard by visiting https://www.votervoice.net/Motorcyclist/Campaigns/100162/Respond.

If you don’t live in Connecticut, you can express your outrage by emailing Connecticut Senate President Pro Tempore Looney’s legislative aide at foster.hall@cga.ct.gov or going to http://www.senatedems.ct.gov/looney-contact.

were the bill phrased so that it assumes all legislators are automatically organ donors it would have no chance of passing

Why disenfranchise one group over another?   Just another dumbass I suppose  Is his name really looney??

how much money does the medical cartel make from getting a free organ donated?   If the donor's estate would get 30% from a donated organ, donations would go up.

just like they want free blood donations and they make big $$$$ from it.

then we have the jury slaves while the lawyers rake in big $$$$$$ from a case.

the legislation passed by I pressume Democrat, is completely wrong and violates peoples rights.

remember the movie "Coma"

SB-96 was sent to committee over two weeks ago.  It is highly doubtful it will get out of committee.  Too many open ended legal questions when considering next of kin and things like that.

In the future, body harvesters will be racing to motorcycle accidents just to remove dead rider's helmets before EMS arrives...crazy.

There is also SB-97 that was introduced by Senator Looney that, if passed, will raise the helmet requirement from 18 years old to 21.  It was sent to committee at the same time as SB-96 and is expected to make it all the way to a vote.

I'm wondering if Connecticut State Senators have a quota on how many bills they must introduce at the beginning of a new session.  Out of desperation, they end up making up stuff just to reach their quota.  SB-96 sure sounds like it falls into that category.
