I used a rear 130/90-17 on the front, now at 22500k miles and at wear bars.

pros: handles great, grips great, very good wear life, installed it for reverse rotation. great braking grip and did good on hard pack to slightly loose dirt roads, paid less than $100. almost zero cupping/scalloping. I greatly reduced late front wheel braking and always used the rear brake.

cons: mine did not like pressures less than max sidewall pressure of 41. anything less and would developed a high speed wobble at 90 mph during passing conditions. normal hwy speeds were 70-80mph.
once even had a wobble at 90 mph at 41 psi, but that was a one time event for some reason. at 36-38 PSI it would wobble at 80mph.
sometimes leaned over in a hwy curve with a rough/bumping road surface sometimes the tire just didn't fell planted, I attribute that to it being an H-rated tire and comparing it to the V-rated tire it replaced.

Overall I liked it, but since it is H rated and the always possible wobble issue with less pressure my replacement will be the recommended by many on this site the V rated Bridgestone BATTLAX BT46.

I already don't like this BT46 even before installing it. Initial measurements are that it is smaller in diameter and narrower tread width than the D404 was before installing it. Seems like major cost cutting by Bridgestone.
The D404 was smaller in same regards to the V-rated ContiGo in same size it replace. The Conti lasted 28k miles.
Will see after installing the BT46.

I'm on track to at least 21,000 easily with a Avon Cobra using beads but I got a stock Bridgestone 701 standing by and hopefully just as good results using beads. I like the idea of using a 130 variant due to lighter steer/smaller contact patch though the speedo error will need to be dialed in.  Smiley

Interesting about wobble/pressure application. Had a stock 404 on frt. of the VT1100C and it would wobble at lower speeds but I always used high stock rating. Most 1100 folk used 41 psi. in Metzlers 880 with excellent performance. Hmmm.

the smaller diameter of the 130 lowers the trail number for nimbler handling hence lighter steering.
the ODO is spot on via checking against mile markers in three different states, speedo runs 5 mph fast so easy to calculate that.
I read different reviews before I tried the D404 and some talked about the wobble and others never had a problem with lower pressures.
