With temps in the mid-50s to 60 in some places today, it was the first ride of the season for some Southern New Englanders. Including me. What a crazy non-winter we're having. No snow on the ground south of the Mass Pike and no ice for pond hockey or ice fishing.
Many towns laid down salt on Tuesday night because we had freezing rain. I was hoping that the salt would be washed away with Thursday night's rain. But we didn't really get a meaningful amount, so some salt remains.
Filled up the tires and left the house about 10:30. Temps were in the mid-50s, but the roads were still damp from the light rain on Thursday night. Ended up doing a loop around the Wachusett Reservoir, with a stop for lunch at a diner in Clinton, MA. Got home a little after 1 PM. By that time, I had seen a good number of bikes on the road. Total was 60 miles. It felt good.

The bike needed a thorough wash to get rid of the salt and road grime. It's all clean and ready for what's next. That opportunity could come as early as next week. There's simply no snow in site in my area for the next two weeks.
