Do many of you use this ?
I've always been leary of such things, plus i usually don't know how to work them.
But, I joined it and am getting all kinds of friend requests. Most though are from those I know. I think I'm finding myself typing too much.

I joined Facebook four or five years ago, I forget.  I did it to share some things with friends and to sort of allow them to share with me, sort of keeping up with them.

I post some bike trips (usually after we get back), post some stuff we see on our property or see there and I use it to keep in touch with some shipmates from my time in the Navy.

I am also on MeWe (www.mewe.com) which is similar to Facebook and also has both a Valkyrie group and a Gold Wing group.

I see some ads I don't like on Facebook but.... I can ignore them.

Oh, Facebook also has a group of people I use to work with at V.  C. Summer Nuclear Station and, like I, have retired.  Sort of keep track of things with old workmates.

It seems pretty easy for stuff like that.

Some of the ads are pretty crazy, at least to me.

Once you type something it seems it'll be there forever.

When it comes to Facebook and the like, it is easy to allow it to run your life without you even realizing it.

I used to be on it. Left it. And am back on it in a limited fashion.
I only use it to see what the local restaurants have for specials. Works pretty good for that.
But as a social media tool, vigilance is the word. It is easy to get caught up in it. And many predators.

Just make sure you use it as a tool for you and not a target on your back.

I use it.

Great knowledge base for my vintage machines.  I had a guy in Europe give me advice on a tear down of a transmission a few years back.  Electrics on a different machine, etc.

But I do not buy and sell on these groups, too iffy.

And no political outspoken “friends”.  They are unfriended pretty quick, along with braggarts.

And 99% of the postings are private, not public.  Only friends can see the posts.

Artful pictures, close family, and old friend connections.

Think minimalist, less talking more listening.

Good advice. I'm getting so many friend requests I thought everyone could see my postings.

I think there is a setting for that, who can see what you post, set to only Friends.   But, if I remember correctly, anyone can see you exist.

And, at least in my neck of the woods, I get one or two "Friends" requests from people I am already friends with.  They call it "hacked" but I think a lot of it is someone can see your friends list somehow, therefore they can use that name as a "thing" and then send friends requests.  It makes some since in that John Doe is a pretty common name (as an example) so, the authentication of that specific name related to you as the party signed on with your user name is specific but not the name "John Doe".

I don't use my real name or birthdate.

I also don't have any personal history revealed.

It's fun for silly videos of animals that make me smile.

Anyone who posts crap soon gets blocked by me and if they do the same I really don't care.

Life is too short to get caught up in drama.

it's good for bike stuff and all of those I belong to don't allow political stuff. Do it and get booted.

I'm a moderator for 3 different groups and it gets easy to see who is real when they ask to join a group.

I do not have a facebook account.  I use my wife's even though she is not on it at all besides keeping up with our 2 kids who do not use it much anymore either.

The biggest thing I use facebook for is marketplace ad postings for sale stuff.  Works GREAT for that since hardly anyone posts much on craigslist anymore.

I check facebook marketplace daily for really good deals and only sold 1-2 things on there, but buying stuff great deals I have gone overboard on the past few years.   I keep missing out on great deals since have to work Monday thru Friday and can only meet on weekends.  The good deals are usually gone by the weekend which is a bummer.

I don't use Facebook or any other social media cite that is owned by leftists, on general principles. Using them = supporting them.

I have a FaceBook account strictly for business.  I don't use it for anything personal.  Let's face it, I don't give a damn what someone's aunt Clara is having for lunch.  I take that back.  If she is single, good looking, extremely rich, and about to kick the bucket, I guess I will have lunch with the darling.

Every once in awhile I get a hateful feedback thus I block them and carry on. Just had an issue on VRCC a couple days ago but I believe either I or the other person has been hacked as the messages were very confusing.

FB is my link to family and friends though I had remind my aunt that I still have a phone # to call me.  Grin
