Dennis,
I was rummaging through some old photos and tripping down memory lane... when I spotted this shot. Do you recall this place and the amazing event that took place there?

In west central Colorado... We stopped there for brunch. I ordered a double order of bacon and sweet tea... The server explained that they didn't offer sweet tea but there was sugar on the table... I changed my order to some soda or other...
The owner walked over and told us he'd overheard the exchange... He asked what was the difference...? He went on to say he really didn't understand why southerners always seemed to specify that... He added he'd never tried it himself either...
I explained it to him. He disappeared for a while, then returned with a glass of 'sweet tea' and asked me to try it!!! I was so blown away and impressed that he'd bothered to do that, I just didn't have the heart to tell him the truth... I pretended to love it and raved about it for some time! You even joined in as my 'adjunct scholar' on the subject...
I look upon that as our time as missionaries out spreading the good news to the underprivileged world beyond the boundaries of dear ol' Dixie... Remember now?

Yep... and it was hot that day, too... so, we lingered a while longer than usual...

Bruce, I know of what you speak. You can add sugar to an otherwise bland glassful, but it just ain't the same. I learned that about 56 yrs. ago when I first moved to Florida, got my first indoctrination somewhere north of Atlanta and never forgot it.
A double order of bacon?

Last summer I was talking with a friend in Colorado. She and her husband have a bar and restaurant. The subject of sweet tea was mentioned.
Her: We have tried serving it in the summer time, but got a lot of complaints.
Me: How much sugar did you use?
Her: 2-3 cups of sugar to 3-5 gallons of tea.
Me: Oh honey! That ain’t sweet tea at all! You need 2 cups of sugar PER GALLON.
Her: ? ? ?
Me: If you want REAL sweet tea, you can’t be stingy with the sugar!
I can’t help but wonder if they will try again this year.
