I noticed that the new-to-me Valkyrie I recently bought had tires from 2011.

 Undecided Undecided Shocked

Wish I had noticed that BEFORE I took my 700+ mile trip to the Texas Twisted Sisters!!!

Anyway got a set of Michelins this week.  Exedra max for the rear and G107 or G701 (something like that) for the front.   They're starting to get broken in now, I have maybe 35-40 miles on them and I cannot believe the difference!  I've gone darkside on previous valks, I've run metzlers and dunlops and even Venoms.   But this gives me the best grip I can recall and they're not even broken in all the way yet.  I'm doing tight figure 8's in an open lot and it just feels smooth and grippy.  I'll report back after my trip the tail of the dragon in May.   But my initial impression is WOW!

Just thought I'd share in case anyone was curious.

Cheers!

I run 701/702 Exedras 2x now. Got lucky the last time and snagged a set of AV72 Cobras and I used beads in the front tire and the damn thing refuses to wear out. Smiley My concern with the Exedra Max is that they might be a harder compound for wear thus grip might be a concern. That being said, I put them on a 1600 Vulcan Nomad I had a short time and they gripped really well in the summer but I can't say about cooler and/or wet temps. Keep us posted as the 701/702 could get replaced like Metzler done away with the 880 in favor for the 888 which on lighter rides seem to suck in the cold/wet conditions.

I'm not aggressive rider but I've been caught in some serious rain storms and both the Cobra's and BS's done their jobs well as well as the plastic Rain X on the shield. It worked so well I was being drowned with my open face. Purchased a snap on shield for those occasions thus in the bags as needed.

My bad it's a Bridgestone.  sorry about that.   but 180/70/16 rear and 150/80/17 front.

Apparently they don't make an exedra max in 150/80R17 so that's why I had to go with the G701 for the front.

So far these things seem to "stick" like crazy even in severe cornering.  Next I'll try to test them on wet pavement.

Yes, is Bridgestone, good to know that you find a matching front tire. Looks like AVON is out of the business, I was running Avon all the time, now I am looking for High Grip/Low Mileage tires, something like hypersport for my 1500 Valkyrie 97, any suggestion will be appreciated!

I've had set of Exedra 701/702, AV72 Cobra's and another set of Exedra 701/702 s of now and found no difference in wear or handling. I'm not really sure about Exedra Max variant thus I stick with the 701/702. Balance beads in the front tire, 21,000 + miles on the Cobra's.
