When Blondie and I were married and she used to ride behind me, she put a decent scratch in one of the bag lids with her engagement ring.
What worked for me is "You prep it for re-paint". That mistake wasn't repeated.

The easiest solution is some kind of clear tape (automotive stuff). I'd get it wide enough to do a single strip, rather than several.
Or you make her wear socks over her shoes/boots.

Whenever someone wanted a ride on my Valk I told them I didn't carry accident coverage for passengers, only me as the driver. That usually stopped the requests.
