Any day that you ride is a good day!

« on: April 05, 2023, 07:41:22 AM »

I looked for the Rode to Work thread to post this but when I finally found it, it looks like it hasn't been posted in since 2017. So I decided to create a new thread.

It never made sense to me anyways.

Anytime I ride to work the ride home is what I look forward to.

Yesterday was a really nice day so I rode to work planning on a leisurely ride home after work.

Partly it was an excuse to play with my new toy:

Mostly though it was about the chance to get out and enjoy a ride.

I only rode about 40 miles of the BRP before I turned for home but it felt really good to be "In the Wind".

The new Wing is a blast to ride.

It feels much like a more comfortable version of my ST 1300 than it does a Goldwing.

At the end of the day I got another pleasant surprise:

That 48.1 mpg average included my ride to and from work.

Some of the ride was in town, some on the BRP and a short part was in Sport mode
across a mountain.

I could get used to mpg's in the 40's.

It is interesting your comparison to the ST1300.   I have a 2007 ST1300 and single up, I like it better than my 2015 wing.

Two up, the wing is better (so say's my wife  Smiley ).

The wife also likes the Valkyrie.

My first ride on the 2014 Valkyrie felt like riding a larger ST rather than a Wing.

As they say the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.  Beautiful toy, enjoy it!   cooldude

I test rode an F6B and thought that it felt like a crotch rocket on steroids.

The new Wing feels lighter and more nimble than the F6B did.

It has multiple mode settings that control throttle response, braking etc.

Operating it in Sport mode while fun is going to take some getting used to.

The throttle response in that mode is a little scary.

The ST may be a little faster, I haven't pushed the Wing hard enough yet to know for sure.

I like the ST but I just couldn't get mine to where it was comfortable for me on long rides.

I've got to thin out the stable a bit now.

The ST1300 and 2 of my Valkyrie Interstates are up for sale if anyone is interested.

The ride to work is a sorta giterdone thingy. Long time back when my CB500/4 was still new the ride home was DIFFERENT!  Roll Eyes Near bout 27  28 miles from home to work then BUT I have wadded up 300 plus miles at times comin back home just followin the front wheel!  2funny Wife NEVER got it even after going fer a Ride with me!  Undecided RIDE SAFE.

Very nice bike Mark.   cooldude

And I'm not usually a fan of red, but that thing is beautiful.

Deb been on it yet?

Thanks, I love the red and black.

Deb took a ride with me Sunday.
The weather was a little cool for her liking.

But I think she likes the new bike.

Well our one week spring in VA is over.  83-4 up here today is already too hot.

You'd think we could get a nice month or so of cool dry high 60s-low 70s, but no way Jose.   tickedoff

Before I got both my Valks all fixed up this Winter I was giving serious thought to selling them and getting an 1800 fuelie... something (and 40s mpg).  But now both are back to perfect and I just can't justify dumping them.  And as you know, my riding is down to mostly day rides anyway.

I might make Inzane in Roanoke though.

I have a F6B and yes I have to agree the new Wing is better, but for me it would be a $20,000 upgrade so it’s not $20,000 much better.

nice toy,   time to get the batteries in the cycles hoping late Sunday after all the yardwork is done and taxes done Saturday into Sunday.   The 70's next week highs finally are coming to WI and below 40 degreee lows at night.  I neglected though to change the oil on them and clean up the cycles last fall so that has to get done as well sometime?  I should retire NOW so have FREE time to do all of it?
