Since I went back to work I have thinking of getting a second bike for riding back and forth to the job. I had a 84 650 nighthawk back in the 80's and liked it. So I am on the lookout for one and or a Nighthawk S. If any of you guys have one you want to get rid of let me know. The valk is just to big to only ride 1.5 miles each day. THANKS

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

A nice little scooter would work. No further than that and 50cc would get you there.

F106,
Why get a bike for such a narrow purpose?  How about getting something that offers a different kind/style of riding?
Perhaps a Suzuki V-Strom, maybe a Kawasaki Versys-just a different dimension and not nearly as much work to negotiate.Sometimes the mass of the Valk is comforting and fun-sometimes not as much.

That is a good question. one reason is room in the garage. the nighthawk in size would fit along side the west wall of the garage next to my truck. i have a 2 car garage that already has one camery and one ford ranger and the valk. i dont like to keep anything outside so the nighthawk works. also i had one years ago and would like to back to my roots a bit.

(1984 HONDA NIGHTHAWK S700, Good original condition and completely stock. These bikes have DOHC 4 valve heads with hydraulic lifters (no valve adjusters) 18K miles runs very nice. They are very popular and have a faithful following. These phenomenal motors will go over 100k miles)

I was thinking of the Vstrom also. I will never get rid of my Valk but I wouldn't mind something totally different. I just can't get myself to justify another bike...

Not to be a smart___, but I'd just ride the Valk and find a longer route to work.   coolsmiley

Truthfully, the smaller bikes are getting in high demand.  We just sold my wifes nice little 650 Shadow and there were 2 other people at her job that were standing by in case the sale fell through.  Those Nighthawks look pretty sweet too....

That's exactly what happened to me. I bought a new '08 650 V-Strom in March of '08. Since then the Valk has only been ridden about 3000 miles. Sure looks good in the garage though.  cooldude

My Valk was my first bike when I returned to motorcycling in my late 40's.I bought a Buell Ulysses to take advantage of all the forestry roads of the northwest. That opened my eyes to different riding styles (it was a pretty good roadbike as well). It was such a piece of sh...that I traded for an Interceptor and also enjoy the style.
BUT......Although, I may ride my Fat Lady less, when I'm on it, it still amazes me how right that bike is for me, alone (SuperValk Time) or with the friendly voice I hear on my Intercom.
Honda puts out good stuff.
